I wouldn't mind going for former football legends to become our new manager if we sack Pardew:
Marco Van Basten
Gheorghe Hagi
Hernan Crespo
Andriy Shevchenko
Who would be your favourite out of that list?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Only van basten has a sort of managerial pedigree from that list.
why does it have to be a legend?

Agree0 Disagree0

It would just be nice because they have good knowledge. Hagi has managed well before

Agree0 Disagree0

Can I ask something i'm a sunderland fan and you've just won your last two games and your thinking about sacking Pardew why?

Agree0 Disagree0

Dear sunderland fan, it's because a manager in toon can never win unless he has some sort of history with the club. pards doesn't so no matter how good things are going there'll be a small majority that don't want him.
i guess that's the same at any club. if moyes wins the fa cup but finishes 4th there'll be a few who want him out.

no English players in starting 11, shamful

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hows it shameful, you know I really don't get statements like this. They're always going on about how we need more english players in the league, well for that they need to make academies, coaching A LOT better. Bundesliga could very well over take the prem, they have a very good youth system and structure. Zaha 16mil, we got sissoko, haidara, gouffran, mbiwa, debuchy for 18mil! And they're all top players!
English players are so overpriced and you only find very few that don't play for clubs like arsenal man u chelsea. For the premier league to be the best league, you need the quality of foreign players AND english players. There's a lot more to it, but a better youth system and structure should of been put in place years ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

We were an english club a proud north east club, can't beleive no english players on show, let alone geordies, i'm sure if we had some english players they could get us to the dizzy heights of 6th bottom.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are playing at the very top of the game.

We could have an all English side, but we would be playing in the Championship or lower.

Isn't there enough teams down there with English players?

If the quality comes through they will be given a chance. We cannot make home grown talent good enough for the Premier League just magically appear.

If we have a youth system and attempt to produce players, then we are doing what we can.

It was only a year ago we had the 2nd most amount of English players in our squad, out of all the Premier League. We have tried.

Agree0 Disagree0

We have got English players, but Raylor's crocked, Dummett's behind Santon, Remy's better than either Ameobi, Campbell's not ready, Mapou's miles better than Saylor, etc etc. So you'd prefer us to field a quota of English players? You're not right in the head, m8. Vic

Agree0 Disagree0

Dumment is Welsh mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

OK, pedant, Welsh is foreign. You win. Vic

Agree0 Disagree0

I am certainly not pedant just merely pointing out that drumment is not English. Don't take it personally.

Bloger happy because we dd not sign anyone. Geez Are you for real what a plonker there is a long long way to go and you will be regretting like 95% of us we did not sign a striker who can score because Cisse is pathetic
Points on the board is great But not signing a week in week out scorer and a CB will keep us in the bottom 10. Happy but be a realist not a fool

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate. Not signing another striker was a huge mistake a one I hope we don't regret. But I will enjoy the win and the performance from the lads.

Agree0 Disagree0

^ Is this guy supposed to be a Newcastle 'supporter' lol. I very much doubt it. Try and lighten up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Signing player after player is not always the answer. Why do you think Mourinho was trimming the squad at Chelsea?

I guess for some people the answer is a squad of 40 players, and you just keep signing 4 players every window.

Btw, How is Sunderland and there '14 new players' getting on. Point in fact I would say.

Agree0 Disagree0

No toon player is pathetic. call yoursell a fan. get a grip m8

Agree0 Disagree0

5th blog. Yep a fan and yep he was PATHETIC and an embarresment and fans like you help drag the team down and it will never improve with lethagis people like you and Ashley Pathetic man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is asking for 14 players? 2 would have done to add much needed fire power to the front line. Call it what you want but we all know we are 2 injuries away from trouble.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cisse got an assist today.

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know Cisse's been desperately out of form for too long but it's not his fault that he's had to plough a lone furrow up front without the promised second striker alongside. To call him 'pathetic' or an 'embarrassment' is disgraceful and contemptible - true supporters back their players even when they're struggling. Vic

Agree0 Disagree0

Reply to the person who decide to csll the 5th blog a pathetic man. How is that comment dragging the team down. I've supported them all my life n had a season ticket 4 23 years. I don't agree with all MA has done but without support like mine and thousands of others the toon wouldn't exist. An empty stadia would result in 1 thing 0wins n a fownward spiral out of 3xistance. The club has actually improved under MA. Still can't see how cisse is an embarressment. did he fart in the team bath or something

If anyone needed convincing that Cisse is hopeless it was in front of them today.
But A good all-round performance with HBA again the star, and the full backs had great games. Cabaye poor but possibly due to lack of match fitness

Upward and onward win these type of games we will be OK but watch for the top 6 teams because we just can not compete.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ben arfa wasn't the only star, debuchy sissoko and tiote were fantastic I think, and our play didn't revolve around benny too much!

Agree0 Disagree0

Great first half really impressed with whole team everyone look comfortable. Second half Villa came into it but you expect that from the home team. Overall very pleasing performance. Maybe Pardew has learnt something from last term.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Cisse did an excellent job with his movement, he was dragging defenders away from goal which led to the players around him getting space.

Agree0 Disagree0

Geez Cisee is there to score goals he is very poor & the reason we supposedly tried to sign a striker
He cannot control the ball and his passing is hopeless
Players that JT Toon mention just did the job they have not been doing

HBA is a different class & if he continues he will fulfil Ashley's dreams and sold along with Cabaye

On the meantime enjoy the result

Agree0 Disagree0

Cisse had a hand (or foot) in both goals.

Fantastic win, very hard game that was. There were parts of the game where villa dominated, but you're going to have things like that when you play villa! I really liked the way we setup in the 4-2-3-1 with cabaye in the free role, and sissoko and tiote looked good as the two centre mids. Tiote actually looked reliable when he came on, he didn't get forward really, he just anchored the midfield, and sissoko was very good at driving back and fourth like a box to box midfielder. Finally our play isn't revolved around ben arfa, we were creating space and chances with the whole team. Debuchy I think was brilliant, santon and remy down the left wing looked good, remy still lacking a bit of fitness. Cisse is lacking confidence, he panicked and got a web site too many times. I think we should of had a penalty, but maybe agbonlahor should have scored the sitter.

But this was a very promising performance away from home, and we don't have to wait until the 24th game for our first away win of the season. We played some good possession football, we didn't sit back when we went 2-1 up, we controlled the game, villa only had like 2 or 3 shots on target didn't they? They were just hoofing it up to benteke half the time, we only played 5 or 6 long balls. But i'm very happy with that and you my fellow geordies should be as well!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

JToon, you have a habit of saying some very true things but wrapping it up in such a way that has me wanting to disagree with you. We are happy, we don't need telling.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol, i'll try and cut down on that mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is everyone praising Tiote it was Anita that played most of the game ffs

Agree0 Disagree0

JT: stay positive - there's too many miserable sods on here who want us to fail so that they can look clever. Vic

Agree0 Disagree0

Agrees vic!

I am actually glad we did not sign any more players, just look at how the team gelled and carved Villa up. Everything is clicking in to place. If we signed a few players the team may have gone backwards trying to adapt. The players are all on the same wavelength.

We could have beat Villa by more.

We only won something like 2 games away last season, we just won our first away game since playing City. Big big improvement.

I wonder how Sunderland got on lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on mate, we may have been lucky with the agbonlahor chance, but we should of had a penalty! Remy looks good, I think cisse needs to get a turn on the bench because remy will have more chances and more confident atm,

Agree0 Disagree0

Sunderland got Robbed by a ref, fair enough good result for you lot but just because you won 2 games doesn't mean you are great, where are your cockney mafia haters at? eh! it will go wrong soon enough!

Agree0 Disagree0

JT Toon no wonder Ashley thinks he can walk on water with fans like you Enjoy the time & be positive but be real to yourself we have a very long way to go
before you start shouting the oddsmaker also think Cisse is a liability it is like playing with 10 men

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats the point of being negative when you're teams doing well?

And to the SMB, I think its already gone wrong for sunderland!

Agree0 Disagree0

The only people worried about sunderland are non sunderland fans. The sunderland fans with a brain cell know we are improving, results may not show it but were starting to gel, it takes time. Were in this for the long term and in about another two or three games we will be fine.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dear me, the poor blinkered Mackem.

Seems pardew has made a very good team selection:

433
Krul
Debuchy
MBiwa
Coloccini
Santon
Anita
Cabaye
Sissoko
Ben Arfa
Cisse
Remy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Any selction is gud when saylor is left on the bench. As much as I like him as a pro he's our weakness at the back.
