Use our rumours form to send us newcastle transfer rumours.

I hope there is work going on behind the scenes regarding transfers etc. Names getting linked with us and our interest in them. What they must do is get the players in soon as and not offer a third of their value and watch while other clubs snap them up. Also, do not just aim for one player and then end up with nothing because all the effort was put in on him, its happened before more than once. Teams around us last season, Villa, Mackems etc are now strengthening and hopefully we will not stand still or relegation will be a certainty. Another year older and i'm still waiting to win something, 1969 needs to be updated before my time is up ha ha.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You can't be serious 1969? that wasn't a trophy, i'm a toon fan for 23 years and the last time we actually won something was 1955 fa cup that's how desperate we are for a trophy waited over half a century

Agree0 Disagree0

Went to my first game in 1956 how do you think I feel at the ripe old age of 65 {Ed007's Note - Wrinkly?}

Agree0 Disagree0

23 years? Still a boy then.

At last some great news today. Despite all the transfer speculation and national focus being south of the river in recent weeks, Steven Taylor has pledged his future to Newcastle. His comment 'living the dream' sums up everything there is to say about this club. Thankfully the defence would appear to be in good hands even if Argentinian international Coloccini leaves.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thank god Taylor has committed his future to the club because I was really worried he was going to sign for Arsenal. honestly!

Agree0 Disagree0

BBC reporting Colo staying with Newcastle, Saturday morning

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal? he was part of a defence that let in almost 70 goals last season he will stay at Newcastle just because his family is around him he will be on the bench the next few seasons like ameobi who has just stayed his whole career neither of them would get a game anywhere else other than the championship we need more quality than them two

Agree0 Disagree0

Steven Taylor has pledged his future to the club, brilliant, more Keystone Cop entertainment next season.

I want the toons to go for andy carroll and Gary hopper for£15-18 million. Toon jegz

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hooper has played Championship football and now playing probs a level lower, don't mention champions league, remember Shola scored at the Nou Camp in champions league and he ain't exactly top notch. Carroll is injury prone and not prolific plus off-field issues that blight him so I would say NO THANKS to both of them AND not at 18m.

Agree0 Disagree0

In midfield I like to see Gary medal of Seville dcm, seim de jong of ajax cm and honda cska moscow acm and that cost £13-15.
Sell gosling, perch.
Toon jegz

Agree0 Disagree0

Rather spend 15-18 mil on one top notch striker than those two

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon 2 players will come to Newcastle this year, one being Douglas another being either a winger or striker, my guess is bent

I think we only need 3 players, a centre back, a winger and a striker, then we only need to sell a few fringe players. Our squad has been improved from january from the squad that finished 5th. Our squad atm is easily top 10 quality, dare I say it matches up to evertons.

OUT: Jonas, Harper, Simpson, Williamson, Obertan, Gosling, Ameobi.

IN: Darren Bent £5million, Tom Ince £8million, Douglas Free, Georginio Wijnaldum 9million.

Squad for 13/14:

GKs: Krul, Elliot, Alnwick

DEFs: Debuchy, Tavernier, Raylor (injured), Douglas, Coloccini, Saylor, Mbiwa, Haidara, Santon

MIDs: Ben Arfa, Ince, Sammy Ameobi, Ferguson, Cabaye, Tiote, Sissoko, Anita, Bigirimana

FORs: Cisse, Bent, Gouffran, Campbell

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Top ten quality, are you nuts, how come it was a bottom 5 finish then, dear me!

Agree0 Disagree0

At the end of January where were Newcastle in the league compaired to where they finished I can't see that being an improvement in the squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Top WHAT yes you are nuts However Ahley & Llambiad think that also But they know nothing about football what about you

Agree0 Disagree0

It takes time to gel.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you think we will pay £9m for Wijnaldum or whatever his name is and not put him in the squad. Have a word mate

just read an article Jonas Gutierrez saying we must not repeat the mistakes of last season, Jonas you are one of the mistakes of last season surely that was his last, he needs to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree, jonas, harper, simpson, williamson, gosling, obertan, ameobi all crap we need to get rid of. bring in some fresh young faces.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pity he didn't have a descent left back to rely on spent most of the season chasing back instead of getting forward santon needs to go

Agree0 Disagree0

Yanga-M'biwa was solid at left back when he played there but Jonas still didn't improve going forward, the fact that Tim Krul and Rob Elliot have more assists than Jonas says it all really.

Rumour has it we are willing to break our tranfer code and buy bent who is 29?! Why would we not go for Defoe who IMO is twice as good and has a better goal scoring record. Would cost roughly the same as well

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would prefer bent really and defoe's like 30, 31 now. Bent is the sort of striker we need, technical, fast and give him a chance and he'll score.

Anyone else consider a bid for Guthrie? I thought he was a good, never caused us any grief and worked hard.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Erm. NO .

Agree0 Disagree0

Talk about going backwards Guthrie has gone forget him

WE NEED quality flair and young players who can play the modern game. We are miles behind Norwich with their new policy WHam and Swansea and a few more teams we classed as ordinary a year ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is Vuckic time to shine.

No need.

Newcastle won't sign anyone this summer. I think its going to be a disappointing summer on tyneside but I guess were used it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why so glum have sum ambition the window hasn't even opened yet still got months to gan

Agree0 Disagree0

Bloody hell give the negativity a rest!

we never got anyone in jan and then signed 5 players, plus the fact that the window doesn't open until july 1st!

the clubs can talk and agree deals with nothing signed plus the toon hierarchy have said that they try their very best to keep deals quiet so sit back relax and have some faith!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't forget sissoko came early as we were constantly told, and 4 others in jan window! So don't expect more than two! Striker and defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

FFS quit the negativity, pardew and everyone are back from their holidays now, so expect to see some articles of advanced negotiations with players like Bent, Douglas, Ince etc.

Stephan Ireland released by villa. We had him once, anyone think he will come back?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No thanks. next?

Agree0 Disagree0

To old and prone to injury

Agree0 Disagree0

Errrrrr NO.
Waste of space. Was a fantastic talent at City but got too big for his boots and stopped trying. Has lost his way and will be lucky to be picked up by the PL new comers.
Has been in a down-hill spiral since he lied about his Gran dying to get out of International duty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Way too slow for a midfielder, he shifts like a dump truck.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's sunderland quality!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't have said he was too good for you. I would have said he is the calibre of player that Pratdew will pursue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sunderland quality haha pathetic.

You obviously havnt seen the quality we are getting but you soon will.

Forget players coming in until July probably 2nd 3rd week. Yes players are being mooted and whist most fans would like some clear indication of what those running the club are trying to achieve it is not going to happen.

A plan apparently is in place with a number of names on it but they will be systematically crossed off when our bids are rejected.
Ashley'e philosophy is from 10 names we might hopefully get 2 BUT only thing with that as always is with Newcastle now is the cost of the player and not the quality.

We shop on the bottom shelf hoping that someone falls off the middle shelf or once in a while the top shelf and that is why we will always be an also ran with Ashley at the helm.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nice try Mackems

Agree0 Disagree0

No, I am just a realistic GEORDIE

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go again - Mr Realistic. Shop on the bottom shelf? Sissoco? Mapou? Cisse? Debouchy? Benny? These are all internationals, man. You take too much notice of the other daft 'realists' on here.

Does anybody not think NUFC would be foolish to go sign numerous players.

My reasons are based upon in Jan we signed 5 first team players. all arguably have talent. But as many other foreign players do, they look to need time to adapt to England. we expected them to come in and lift us miles up the table.

These players are good players, and will come back better with a full pre season behind them, also Bigi will be better with a year behind him, as well as Campbell being brought through.

IMO we should look to sign CB/LorRM (can play both)/ST no more. don't over complicate it, then fair enough if we loose a player such as Cabaye he would need replaced.

I would also expect Anita to improve with a season behind him, as well as Santon/Marveux improving and Cisse coming back stronger with a Pre season of playing in his regular position and the team working around providing him with the correct service he is a different player to BA and to me it looked like we never changed to adapt to the change in player.

I am quietly confident in our Squad, our starting line up would be strong, and 3 additions would add to the depth with some good youngsters in and around.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So does Ashley as he like you knows nothing about football and unless a minimum 3 players Striker, CB and Winger of Quality are signed we will go through the same motions as last season. You saw it as we all did we were AWFUL

Agree0 Disagree0

The first poster is right we have good players and the team just needs tinkering with a new striker to put pressure on Cisse, a new CB to put pressure on Taylor and possibly a new winger. Most of all though we need Pards to play people in their correct position and to let them play. We have loads of technically gifted players but if the ball is in the air most of the time then they cannot show it. Jonas is a decent squad player nothing more and should NEVER be selected ahead of Marveaux/Gouffran or even Obertan who in my opinion was starting to show what he can do last season before he got injured and before Pards demolished his confidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

You and the 1st poster must be on the same medicine if you think we have a good squad of players.
We will become desperate and when you see the Mackems Cardiff, Norwich and other teams who should not be able to live with NUFC ahead of us in the league perhaps just perhaps you will appreciate the inept way this club is being run.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are wrong, the January recruits will be better for the experience they had last season as will Anita, Bigi and Campbell. We do need reinforcements but not a complete change of team otherwise there is no chance for the players to learn each other’s style and how each other play. The big problem for me is Pardew, I said it the season we finished 5th, he is not good enough, his tactics are out of date but hopefully he too has learnt from last season and will play Sissoko in the centre, will drop Jonas and will get our technically gifted players playing. oh yes and teach Cisse the off side rule!
SpireToon

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate, our squad is easily top 10 quality, its just a question of gelling and clicking over the summer which i'm confident will happen along with a few other faces.

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster here.

signing a hat full of players worked in January didn't it?

They don't gel. the players we signed have ability but they need time. we crnt just keep throwing a group of players together and say play.

Krul - Holland international
Debuchy - France International
Yanga - Mbwia - France International
Colo - Argentina International
Santon - Italy International
Tiote - Ivory Coast International
Sissoko - France International
Cabaye - France International
Hatem Ben Arfa - France International
Cisse - France International
Anita - Holland International
Goufran - France International
Guteirez - Argentina International

Sign 3 more. A ST/Winger and CB and you cannot tell me that is not a strong squad with players such as Bigi, Cambell etc to back up.

You are not going to fork out 15-20mil to buy Bony as that's what it would cost. Next remy has a buy out of 9mil and his wages are 100k a week so doubt you are not going to get him he said himself he wants to go to Liverpool. Bent won't come to Newcastle as he wants to stay south end of. Douglas is not 100% to sign so I will wait on that one. Wouldn't shock me if you got someone like Hooper and that's the spending over. Cisse needed a strike partner and your French players need to gel more. You can all hope but don't get them to high it's a big drop.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Darren bent actually said he wants to go to Newcastle.

Agree0 Disagree0

No he hasn't
He wouldn't want to move back up here, my bet is he'll go to Fulham

is big mike a bit short on ready cash should Newcastle be concerned

Mike Ashley, the founder and deputy chairman of Sports Direct International, has raised £100m by selling part of his stake in the retailer. It is his first sale since the company was floated in 2007.

Ashley, who also owns Newcastle United football club, disposed of 25m shares at 400p each, cutting his shareholding from 68. 6% to just over 64%. In a statement to the stock exchange, Ashley said he would not sell any more of his shares for at least a year.

Last week the company which also owns Lillywhites and the Slazenger and Dunlop brands reported a 23% rise in profits during its Christmas quarter and said it was certain of hitting its full-year target. Now Britain's biggest sporting goods retailer, it has benefited from the demise of rival JJB last year. The positive update pushed its shares to a 12-month high of 452p on Friday, but the news of Ashley's share sale sent them down 5% yesterday to 409p.

Sources close to the company would not speculate on the reasons for the sale. Newcastle supporters must be hoping some of the money is destined for new players in the summer after losing their star striker Demba Ba to Chelsea in the January transfer window. Ashley was recently said to be interested in department store group House of Fraser, but the disposal could also be related to tax planning ahead of the end of the financial year.

Oriel Securities, joint broker to the company, said the sale was a "highly positive development as it increases liquidity in the stock, which has been a hindrance in the past". But independent analyst Nick Bubb said: "Opinion is divided on whether this will help improve liquidity in the stock or spells another collapse in the share price. "

Last year shareholders rejected a proposal to give Ashley a one-off share bonus which could have netted him around £26m.
