All this talk of rolando and bent makes me laugh! we go for young players who can get us some decent money. i'm not a fan of ashley but i'm not going to slag him off! january I thought here we go no ones coming in and suddenly we bring in mbiwa, sissoko, haidara and gouffran. the players we have been linked with so far wouldn't make a difference to our team. would love to see players like Matthias ginter, Pablo sarabia, mbaye niang. talented with great value. nice thought anyways. Geordie sean

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He was forced to buy those players In January due to our relegation scrap. They were earmarked for this current window. Glad we got them when we did or we still would have nobody in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope you right don't want bent he's poor

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, I don't think we'll go for bent. I can see us going for Remy, Sinclair, ince or moses. but niang is a very nice thought! although I doubt milan will sell only for silly money. But don't be surprised to see some foreign, young talents who you may have roughly heard of or never heard of (Basically some graham carr gems like sissoko, haidara etc. )

Okay so he fudged us about in January but people seem to be forgetting what a fantastic player Remy is. Even in the few games he had for QPR he showed class and unlike a lot of the French New Wavers up our way, he has shown he can cut it (and immediately cut it) in the BPL.

The sooner we realise that we will not sign any player that will improve our team the better. Ashley is just in it for the profit, happy to stay in the prem as long as it doesn't cost him anything. I mean would you sign on if interviewed by Kinnear, the man is a clown. I fear the worst & it's Heartbreaking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

FFS, i'm going to have to stop repeating myself. There's a lot more to business then you actually see. Ashley knows that he must provide funds in order to bring in new players and have a good season, well that's how he'll see it. The more successful we are, the more dosh he gets.

Agree0 Disagree0

JToon I wish you would stop repeating yourself. You sound like Ashley's mouthpiece. Ashley only interest is PL survival season in season out.

Pardew is happy with our defence?? The Second worst goals against in the premier league Mr. Pardew, were your eyes closed last season? Colo, fine but Steven Taylor and Mike Williamson are NOT good enough as first choice, back up maybe. Santon is no good as a left back either and Debucce makes Danny Simpson look like Cafu. TWO strikers and 3 Defenders with quality a must. I fear a long hard season ahead bcos Joke Kinnear will end up looking in lower leagues to penny pinch.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mid table, Ash happy with the cash.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, our defence is quality have you not seen it?
debuchy-regular french international, still settling into english football
m'biwa-has potential to be a world class centre back. has been rated at 18m.
coloccini-team of the year 11/12?
santon-potential to be world class, has dramatically improved as well.

our january signings will have time to gel over the summer, then we'll have one of the best squads I have seen in a long time at newcastle

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Jtoon. Only a forward/winger needed

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on jtoon pisses me off when people mock the new signings just becaus they didn't reach ther potential in a half a season

Agree0 Disagree0

They won't reach their potential this season either they are just average at best,

Agree0 Disagree0

SMB, they are quality players wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

No they are not they are plain old average, 70 odd goals against last season and your not signing any more defeders, most teams have strenghened wonder how many you get against next season SGB

Agree0 Disagree0

JToon
No, you are just overrating our players

People cannot rate these players at 18m or potential to be world class after the performances last season, can't blame Europa for tiring the players out, other teams were playing FA or league cup week in week out when we we already out if it, don't hear them complain

Agree0 Disagree0

Europa, jet lag could be something to do with it? We do have a quality squad that just needs to gel, smb.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry but the tired excuse is a joke our Europa league games were played at walking pace, seven away games in Europe shouldn't derail our whole season.
Also I'm sure I read that Oscar has played over 70 games since signing for Chelsea yet why are our players and manager whinging about tiredness more than him?

Our club is a joke always will be. Owners just exploit and laugh at the loyalty of our fans.

We will never have success we will just be let down again and again. I don't know why I or we bother. Its our love of football and pride but I have had enough. Me and my 3 mates have cancelled our season tickets and never going back. Its a waste of time and money. Its like an explorer looking for gold that dosnt exist and not knowing that keeps looking and looking.

Were a big club bigger than our neighbours for a fact.

But I am envious of them not because they are signing players but they always have good owners they are a family club. You must admit your envious of that too?.

Bob murray tight not the richest but loved the club and build them a new stadium and training ground etc.

Quinn loved them so much got a consortium together and bought them. Why hasn't shearer etc done that for us?.

Quinn encouraged Ellis Short to buy the club and he is taking them to a whole new level whether you like it or not. Or whether you can bring yourself to admit it or not because of petty hatred.

I love newcastle utd don't care about Sunderland but giving an example.

The sunderland board talk to the fans answer any concerns etc keep them up to date with how the club is ran etc and they have a big say in the club. They asked for away fans to be moved. They got it. They are something I wish we were a family club a honest club then we could achieve things.

Yes we can be deluded me too. Yes we get carried away were just proud loyal fans who want value for money and people running the club who care. We probably deserve success but were not entitled to it we just want a club to be proud of not a joke of a club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said bonnie lad, I will make this my last season and will vote with my feet. I too love football and will spend my season ticket money on watching all the games on TV.

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to be a mackam no true toon fan would spout about the smbs like that

Agree0 Disagree0

14 Jul 2013 19:50:02
Great post. And I'm a Sunderland supporter. Ashley doesn't give a hoot about you. All he sees is money.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree with some points, us being a bigger club but sunderlands owner willing to spend, but the thing is, ashley knows he doesn't want to waste a single penny, hence why we try and get the best deals for all of our players, basically play hardball. Although it can be incredibly frustrating, you have to think, its for the best for the club. Yes, ashley can be a bit selfish and unthoughtful, but he's a great businessmen. there is a massive increase in the money a club gets for their position finish in the premier league. There is no doubt that ashley will have plans to make us a top 6 club within the next maybe 2-6 years.

Yes we haven't officially bought anyone in yet, but we will and we may very well already be in advanced negotiations for some players, its just that the media don't know about it. Let me tell you, ashley will care about what happens to newcastle, because it will effect him and his business. he won't want another season like the one we've just had as, if you haven't noticed he bought in a director of football (Ok maybe its not the person we would of liked) to replace llambias because JK will do the transfer negotiations better than llambias.

The fact that his record spend is like 10m for coloccini or 9m for cisse and we finished 5th, is incredible. he'll want to keep that going, keep buying those cheap, graham carr gems. because we now know, that with our squad, we can reach those heights again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sunderland are paying Wes Brown 70k a week, and goodness knows how much to Adam (can't cross) Johnson.

I would rather we buy good players and get it right instead of just buying whatever is being flogged at the time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im the original poster.

Its that post above that bothers me. Got to be a mackam no true toon fan would spout about the smbs like that.

Just a pointless false post. what's the point. Your the clueless jealous pathetic bitter type.

We are bigger than sunderland JUST and not by much. Ellis Short is capable of making them bigger. that's my point. Were are stagnant they are ambitious.

Why all the bitterness though towards each other?. Its pathetic and childish. The banter is just not funny anymore. Tyne and wear derby was the best and its not anymore. Its like we celebrate each others downfall. It should be the opposite.

Agree0 Disagree0

To OP,
no the point is, is that short is just literally splashing the cash left right and centre on any player, wes brown 70k a week prime example. Diakite and roberge on frees, diakite couldn't get into the lazio team. roberge very inexperienced in the prem, playing for a mediocre Portuguese team. Ashley will spend well and wisely, trust me. I guarantee we will bring in at least 2 quality players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ashley didn't spend wisely in january, did he, sissoko 2 game wonder, debuchy not good enough for the league, 2 good games at world cup, short is building a good squad, because he care about his club, our new scouts have been watching these players for a few seasons they know all about them, and we haven't spent much money either still time for a few good players to come, looking forard to the season, looks like your lot are panicking now Bent h Remy didn't want to play for you last season, but yous all want him, what's wrong does no one want to sign for your wee club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your scouts have been watching these players for years. What utter crap. Your new DOF is buying them. They have proved nothing in their leagues never mind the PL. we are not panicking that is what Sunderland are doing with all these nobody's you keep buying. Wee club? What is Sunderland then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sissoko, haidara, mbiwa will be quality players. debuchy is top class. SMB. Ssshh with the wee club thing, did you not hear fergie didn't mean it? he said we have loyal and passionate supporters and deserve to be winning trophies. if newcastle are just a wee club, then sunderland must not exist

Agree0 Disagree0

Sissoko 2 game wonder, debuchy totally overrated only your own fans think they are class, and yes our new top class scout has watched them for a few years and tried to get them to milan, stick with carr you need a new keeper krul will leave and cabab will leave wonder how many more will jump ship they must have realised now they are not going to go any where with your club.

Agree0 Disagree0

''We are bigger than sunderland JUST and not by much. Ellis Short is capable of making them bigger. that's my point. Were are stagnant they are ambitious.

Why all the bitterness though towards each other?. Its pathetic and childish. ''

So we get relegated; then we bounce back and get 5th (2nd season back) in the league and then get to a Quarter final in Europe last season, and all of a sudden you are flattering Sunderland and berating your own team because Ashley hasn't skipped to your beat and bought a load of mediocre players in the first 2 weeks of the transfer window? I mean this with respect but you need to review your outlook.

Also, yes, we do celebrate the downfalls of each others sides. It is called competition, and that is what makes winning all that much sweeter. We drive each other on in this fashion. Don't you think it is ironic to call fans ''pathetic and childish'' because you deem the competitive streak to be too edgy.

By all means, you are welcome to be pessimistic. It is not like you are on your own.

There are some of us that can see the bigger picture.

There are some of us that do not base 'everything' on how many players you sign, regardless of quality.

Last summer I was fuming that we did not sign players, and at the point I would probably have agreed with you. But did you miss the New Year transfer window when we got 5 very very good players in? Are you forgetting there is still plenty of this window to go and basically all we need is a striker, which we will get, even if that has to be Bent as a last option.

Try to look at it logically.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jtoon, 'Short splashing the cash, left right and centre', haha, these were players targeted in advance, if you do the Sums, I realise maths might not be top of your list, of the players actually signed at this moment, and players we've sold, we hav'nt spent anything. If the signings we make this week all go through, its about 12 mill. Time will tell if they all prove to be good signings, who knows! But the original poster, can see the bigger picture, and makes some good points. And the poster who used SMB, we do exist, and that's what worries you! Simple. gb.

Mike ashley is worth 1. 37 billion number 10 in the football rich list and he won't spend a small fraction to improve the team the man makes me sick

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What's wrong with you people Ashley is at Newcastle to make money not spend it.
Just look at the s. te he sells in his shops. He's not worried about having a good team as long as it stays in the Premiership.
All the teams above are strengthening and the only one below us who survived are trying to buy their 7th player
Apathy by Ashley has F. ed this club now and for the foreseeable future

Agree0 Disagree0

He will spend.

Agree0 Disagree0

As little as possible and always with the sell on valuye in mind.

Would everyone be happy if we signed
Bent for £5m, Remy for £8m, Sinclair for £5m, Zoet for £2m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just seems strange to me signing Bent and Remy ever since Pardew came in he's wanted players with the right attitude supposedly turning down the chance to sign Gervinho because he used his phone whilst in a meeting with the club as well as getting rid of players like Ranger and Barton, yet we're after a player who Lambert wanted as far away from his squad as possible and another who messed us about in January. Stinks of desperation to me.

Agree0 Disagree0

No thx. .

apparently newcastle are close to tying up a deal for that keeper that sunderland snubbed becauyse they said he wasnt good enough, atleast there's a signing even if the mackems have embarassed us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The same Sunderland that decided Mannone was a good enough keeper?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with 2nd post

Agree0 Disagree0

Mannone is good as a back up to Westwood. Who yous got when Krul is sold. Yes we didn't want him he isn't good enough for the no1 spot

Agree0 Disagree0

Who says Krul is being sold. Don't you mackems say we are losing our best players constantly? But they haven't gone have they? Worry about your average players and 3 rd choice keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arsenal want Krul

Cisse defiantly leaving as the club are making him train by himself because of the wonga thing. Which clubs would want to buy him and for how much?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's probably doing Ramadan and would probably be on a different training schedule to everyone else because of this!

Agree0 Disagree0

He's on a special traning routeing because of Ramadan. Weights and toning not because of wonga sponsor don't read into paper talk waffle {Ed001's Note - this is boring now, Wonga is not an issue, just like the previous sponsor was not an issue. There is no dispute over shirt sponsorship between Cisse and Newcastle whatsoever.}

Agree0 Disagree0

First post you read anything into nothing no wonder other fans think we are all plonkers
Get some real news and post it if not read the Dandy

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that this is boring now Ed but won't Ben Arfa & Tiote also be doing Ramadan? Anyway, I just think he is playing catch up as he arrived back late due to international duty, I'm sure the others started off like this last week as I saw photos of some of the guys training in the gym etc. {Ed001's Note - spot on mate, this is nothing to do with religion, purely a guy doing a different training regime as he was away and is not ready to train with the others.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed001 do you support newcastle? {Ed001's Note - no, Liverpool. }

Wish people would stop saying we finished 5th. Big deal. That was 2 seasons ago. We then stood still in the transfer market & everyone else built on this squads. We seem to be doing the same again. We need 3-5 players in who can push for a place in the 1st team. Teams like Norwich, Swansea, Soton, villa have strengthend well. Personally think Hull & Palace will struggle. Think best we can aim for with the current squad is. About 7-10th.
Mike

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes but a lot of people are being negative and are just writing ashley and pardew off. and are just plucking things out of the air to moan about. They just need reminding that they did get us to 5th and our squad is more than capable of doing that. And that the manager and players need a lot of support especially at the beginning of a new season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Slightly worried as a Newcastle fan at the minute in regards to strikers.
Firstly we have been after some top quality strikers such as Bony and Augbemayeng and we are stuck with two strikers like Bent and Remy.
Bent is 29 and hasn't had many games last season and the fact he is ex Sunderland doesn't make it any better, in regards to Remy he turned us down for QPR is just a joke and do we want that type of footballer, who is also on a court trial soon which is just a bigger gamble in itself.
Just my personal opinion but would like to hear if you agree or not, ideally I would like to see us bring in Jordan Rhodes and Brown Ideye (Dynamio Kiev).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

All he's money is tied up in businesses. He hasn't got that much in the bank i'm afraid. If he's businneses failed over night what they are capable of doing he would be in financial ruin.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good?

Gary Hooper or Darren Bent?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

More chance of Gary Cooper.

Agree0 Disagree0

Neither. Remy all day and a youngster with potential. Someone like Kadlec.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not bent please he's almost 30 and his wages are appauling

it's really frustrating seeing teams signing quality players like norwich who have signed van wolfswinkel and leroy fer and swansea who have signed bony. JFK goes on holiday and we miss out on our two top targets PEA and bony. I think where going to have a terrible season next year if we don't sign at least three first team players. its good were getting rid of fringe players like gosling but selling perch was a mistake he covered so many areas last season and proved to be a real asset.
realistic targets:
brown ideye 7m
loic remy 6m
darren bent 6m
kevin gamiero 8m
seydou doumbia 11m
scott sinclair 5m
jeroen zoet 1.5m
matej vydra 4m
florain thauvin 5m
yann mvila 7m
toby alderwield 5m
jermaine lens 5m
tim matavz 6m
siem de jong 6m
nacer chadli 6m
ryad boudebouz 4m

from that list my selection would be loic remy toby alderwield jeroen zoet and siem de jong and that's 18.5m well spent

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We've supposedly had a 1.7m bid rejected for Zoet.
Vydra is valued at between 6-8m
Thauvin turned us down in January to sign for Lille.
Lens has already signed for another team.
De Jong closer to 10m.

Agree0 Disagree0

De jong is in his final year so he would come cheap
