Did anyone else see the match report for the reserves? We were apparently mint. Santon, Gosling played (aswell as harper, moyo and donaldson the latter two scoring). From what I read santon was really solid and had some really good shots which were close to scoring, he apparently was good at skimming the opposition midfield/defence. Gosling on the other hand scored two and hit the bar twice, whilst controlling the game. Surely these two need to start on Saturday if not in mid-week next week against nott forest.

Just because they have played well in the reserves doesn't mean they need to start on Sat, we're unbeaten FFS

Santon wont be starting, injured in training

I don't understand why we have people questioning and doubting our start this year.
Were sitting 4th, unbeaten, only conceded 1 goal (which krul was at fault for) and it's our best start in a decade.
People are saying who have we played. Well if we replace qpr with west brom. We managed 3 points in the same matches (arsenal 4-4, west brom 3-1, fulham 0-0 and Mackems 1-1. So take away the freak 4-4, we scored 2 goals with last seasons attacking options. So we have scored 1 more goal already. We look defensively sound. Although qpr missed a number of chances.
But let's be positive and look forward, and not negative. We will be even sounder defensively when santon is brought in, and when marveux and Ben arfa regain match fitness, behind ba/best we will have creativity. All I'm saying that as a fan, I'm happy with the playing side of our club at the moment. I know we have issues off the pitch, but I'm sticking by the manager and squad to do u's Geordies proud.

I agree on the need to keep a positive attitude. However QPR could easily have been 4 up at half time. Would we be so positive then ?. I doubt it. Ben Arfa should be back soon. He's played 4 games in 13 months. If he gets another bad injury in the first few games I'll start to lose my sunny outlook.....SteveToon

This is what this banter page is all about voicing opinions moaning and groaning cheering and laughing, of course we have had a great start and we are all delighted and forever hoping for great times but we dont get carried away, there is a long season ahead. one thing for sure we love the Toon and we love everyone (including Shola) who represents us....the banter goes on

Agree0 Disagree1

We are flattered by our position thought we wer awful againt QPR and should have lost. i cant see us scoring against any of the top teams no striker that will get more than 8 goals, i think we will be fighting relagation at the end of the year, this start gives us a great chance of staying up. Im certainly not expecting anything else with no strikers that would make it into any other team,no, sorry maybe Norwich an exeption! V. disgruntaled toon fan

Agree1 Disagree1

Wait till we play a team with a striker then we will see were we are at, if villa get the chances qpr had were in for a bad day I fear, cracking start on paper but it doesn't quite tell the story as we have been poor, but I'll take being awful and picking up points all day long with the lack of pace, creativity and finishing we have in the squad at present

Agree1 Disagree0

Its only matter of time, no investment will show when the injuries (as they will surely come) will prove . Our paper thin squad will be shown for all it is worth.

By we were lucky last night lads we could of easily been 4 down if nt for sum on the line clearing and some poor finishing by QPR.

Things I noticed last night:
We played a very defensive game last night, relied on the long ball to the lone strikers which brings me to ameobi...someone please jus take him behind the shed and put him out of his missery. very lazy and al i saw was him walking about.
Best didnt receive enough to do anythin.
Obertan...where was the pace and threaghtening runs we saw against fulham, perhaps told to play a bit more defensively.
Tiote...still not to his best, but felt QPR knew this and he was instantly pressured as soon as he recieved the ball.
Cabeye..barely saw him didnt have an impact like the last few games.
Jonas...again not the best ive seen from him, again i dont knw if he was told to play more defensively.
Raylor... not his best again QPR saw him as the week link and SWP showed us that again.
Collo and Saylor... relatively solid, a few messy defedning but did the job.
Simpson....looked good IMO got forward but there was no1 to play to after.
Krul....kept the clean sheet but luckily nothing really that threathening came at him.

Would like to see Sammi Ba and marveux given a bit more oppurtnity. cant wait for HBA to be back im sick of this long ball malarky (were not stoke)

All in all happy with the result especially as i imagine Agent Barton helped them out alot with tactics on this one. also away from home to what i would say was a revitalised QPR team.

While I agree that QPR threw a few men upon tiote whenever he got the ball, tiote often holds onto it for too long and brings pressure upon himself.

Agree1 Disagree0

Tiote is annoying me this season, like against qpr when he was trying to do a 360 around two qpr players just outside OUR box! He enivetbly lost the ball and qpr almost scored. He needs to be on the bench for once while we give gosling a shot in CM.

Im not disappointed with the draw. I think it was more important for QPR to get a win tonight and so they should be the ones disapointed. We didnt play our best going forward and still managed to "not lose"!

I think we have more options going forward than we use - and im disapointed we keep playing this 442 formation - it doesnt work for us!

We need 4231 as follows

Krul
Raylor (or Simmo depend on game style), Saylor, Collo, Santon
Tiote, Cabaye
Obertan, Ben Arfa (or Marveaux/Sammy), Jonas
Ba or Best

What does everyone else think?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Agree apart from jonas in the starting xi. I would give marveaux a chance, more pace and better crossing ability

Agree0 Disagree0

Personaly i think a 4-3-1-2 is a better idea.
