Call me fickle or unrealistic but I really hope Mike Ashley sees these as a "come and get me" plea from Rafa?

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22506736

www1. a web site/football/news/11668/8710122/Chelsea-interim-boss-Rafa-Benitez-targets-new-job-in-Premier-League

With saying "There are two options for the future: to get a project, two or three years to build a team like at Liverpool. " does he mean he is willing to join somewhere like Newcastle?

I have been looking at the teams in the Prem and seeing where else he could go, Everton? Man City?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we pass up the chance to get Rafa it would be a huge mistake. I have no doubt he would get the best out of our squad. Look at the job he has done at Chelsea. Bloke knows how to win trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

Behave yourself, Rafa is a mega earner and Ashley just does not do mega earners, stop torturing yourself, no chance at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Souness had won loads of trophies but was a disaster, and I think rafa would be to, he left liverpool with a load of sub standard foreigners he bought and they are still recovering from it. inter milan poor again even though he took over a champions league winning side, chelsea interim boss, again not wanted fans prefered di matteo and so do i.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man City would not want him, goodness gracious no.

Newcastle seems to be the only glove that would fit.

He would not to go Everton and play the pauper.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's clearly going to go to Everton, his heart is in Liverpool, he has a house there, he loves the place, it makes total sense. MA won't get rid of Pards, not with lots of years left on a contract, regardless of gambling debts rumours. Unless Pards gets us relegated he's here for the long haul and who knows, maybe it was THIS year that was a hiccup and NOT last year, doom mongerers always hoping the worst will happen, since none of us know let's have a little positive thinking for a change maybe?? Some of our own fans won't be happt unless we're struggling and they've got something to write about (with incorrect spelling) on bed sheets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the job he's done a chelsea? fallen out with everybody and scraped 3 place with some of the best players in the world in his squad. Not the manager to get if you on a budget or gave as volatile an atmosphere as newcastle does that's for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Doom mongers. The facts speak for themselves. Pardew is inept, tactical outclassed and has clearly lost the dressing room. Banging on a what Ashley will or won't do we don't know. But from reading Llambas interview he highlighted that Ashley doesn't like embarrassment. If this season is not an embarrassment I don't know what is. Pardew has to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with 6th post. Well said mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2013 17:55:37
Pardew in/out not sure at the moment is it a new start or continuity we need???
what we do need though is a change of backroom staff/assistants we don't look fit, our tactics are a mystery defence (good defenders) they go missing at times and play like strangers midfield too deep and not supporting our attack enough in attack someone has to explain what offside is to Cisse and a few new faces here and there.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need time. After his first season everyone said Colo was rubbish, last year the team was amazing, they have an off year and suddenly they're only good for the scrap heap, this fickleness is embarassing. We had a crap season for sure but come on, maybe it was just a run in for next season?

Agree0 Disagree0

A run in for next season? A one of. 36 one of maybe. Give your head a shake. It was nearly a run into the championship.

I said in February as long as we stayed up we would have a far better season next year. This is because the signings we brought in in January have now had time to bed in and with pre season under their belts will be better equipped for the coming year.

Pardew managed to do the business last year and I am sorry but no one can have enough fortune to finish fifth after 38 games so he must have got something right.

We do need to bring new players in but can not believe so many want Perch and Jonas out. Perch has shown he can be a decent replacement when needed and Jonas may have lost a lot of pace but was it not his tracking down which gifted us the second yesterday? He will run and run for the team and ok won't or shouldn't be first choice but to get rid. really.

I though it strange how Remy didn't celebrate after scoring yesterday. ok QPR were down but a goal is a goal and if their supporters can cheer it why wouldn't a player celebrate it. unless the rumours are true regarding his moving. can he move though? three clubs in a calendar year?

How about IF we change manager offering it to Benitez. break the bank if you have to, who knows bring Torres in on loan for six months (Chelsea pay half his wage). and shore up the defence.

People say why would players want to play for us. look at the stadium, the crowds, the history of the club and who wouldn't want to be part of the team to bring silverware back to the North East. instant saviour and lifelong membership to the Geordie nation.

Whatever happens, it is time we got BEHIND the team, stop whingeing and slagging them. we are in the Premier League for another season and I am pretty sure MA won't make the same mistakes he made last July.

That is all.

Granty

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You voided your opinion when you spoke about seeking Torres on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree mate, finishing 5th in the hardest league in the world is no fluke. You can't expect tired fringe players to play like we did last year. I have faith in pardew and he deserves another chance. We won't have Europa league to deal with so we'll be able to put out a very strong team each week and play exciting football like last year. fans need to stop being fickle and get behind the team otherwise there's just no point in supporting a football club.
Geordie moses

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go again IT WAS a fluke
eat Quaker Oats instead of your toast

Support this club by all means but don't reason Pardew is ANY good and Ashley will change he won't

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I don't agree with the Torres loan bit! We wouldn't be able to afford wages.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know someone would say we should keep Jonas on the back of that part he played in the winner. So I ask you this. What was his part in the rest of the season. While I will always be grateful for past efforts his time is up. Need to move on as he offers nothing to this team. I would keep perch though good utility player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finishing 5th in one of the best leagues in the world with the pressure and high expectations is no fluke. Open your eyes and start supporting the team. There's no way when we beat Manchester United 3-0 you said it was a fluke. You know we completely outplayed them.
I'd bet my house on it that we will be in the top 8/10 next season under pardew. I've already listed the reasons why we've had a bad season and will do better next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guys, we all want the club to move forward but when we say "Pardew out", that's because of his clueless formations, awful set pieces and corners we've seen this year. Even if we keep Pardew, we've got to bring in new technical coaches, and strengthen our squad otherwise I believe its going to be a repeat next season.

iToon

Agree0 Disagree0

We finished 5th with probably the lowest goal difference ever witnessed for such a high position in English football.

We also got played off the park by just about every team we played last season.

If you do not think we were lucky last season, then you obviously were not watching our matches.

I was happy with the amount of points last season, but I honestly was left scratching my head after most games as to how we were scraping by and grabbing points.

Agree0 Disagree0

Regarding Jonas, he will run and run for us gets up and down the park, tackles and wins free kicks. I realise he shouldn't be first choice but there will be games especially away from home when we pack the midfield and this is where he comes in to his own.

Torres was said tongue in cheek but the rest of the post I stand by. You cannot play 38 games by luck. Played off the park by every team? Manchester United 3-0 at home, Chelsea 2-0 away to name but two. this with a strike partnership formed in February.

It has been proven time after time sacking the manager at the drop of a hat is not the answer. So bring in someone new and give them how long before you shout for their head? and the next and the next. look at Everton, Arsenal and Man U. the three teams with longevity and ALL successful compared to us.

Time to support not snipe

Look lads, Next season we won't have europa league to deal with, we'll have no jonas' obertans or goslings (Hopefully) and we can have a fresh start with a few new coaches. If pardew can get us 5th, he can do it again.

Top 6 is our target for next season and with some new young players, there's no reason why we can't do that. Moyes finished everton 7th in his first season, then the next he did even worse than us and finished 17th and played football just as bad as us! Now everton could chop and change, but they didn't, they wanted stability and had confidence in moyes, and guess what? It paid off, they gave moyes the chance to build something at everton and he did. Now with whatever decision ashley makes, whether he keeps pardew or not, we need to back the manager and stay positive. I don't wanna hear any of that rubbish "Oh but we play terrible football" or "No but moyes is better than pardew by a mile" or "Under pardew i'll settle for 12th. " Or a lot of people say how we don't have a plan B, that's because we didn't have the squad depth!!
Give pardew a chance and we could be singing "pardew is our king again!"
Just please keep the faith and don't carry on slagging off pardew if ashley sticks with him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We will still have Jonas, obertan and gosling I'm afraid. Pardew loves Jonas, plays gosling over Anita and obertan over marveaux

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should give Gosling 1 more season, we have nursed him to health so it would be a waste to get rid of him now.

He has not really had a gun run of fitness, so there is more to be see from the guy yet.

Vuckic is the come back I am looking forward to.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree mate, finishing 5th is no fluke, so pardew deserves another chance. plus it would probs cost about 5-10m to get him out so then that's a quarter of our transfer budget gone. Top 6 is defo a realistic target for a club of our stature.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jonas is only being played to give balance to the team. I can tell anita was only a panic buy just to try and add to the squad as ashley wasn't backing pardew.

Agree0 Disagree0

So because the footballing genius that is Ashley puts his faith in Pardew we can't be against it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardew does not deserve another chance. He nearly took us down. Everyone man and his dog could see where we were going wrong but Pardew. He constantly blames everything but himself on our current plight. He needs to go or we will be in the same situation next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were against it then we would be in the relegation zone by December. Most supporters who live in newcastle would all agree with me with the points I made and are all behind pardew. They were interviewed a couple of weeks ago if you don't believe me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate but in the ground, pubs and clubs around Newcastle especially recently I never heard any support for Pardew. The bloke is tactically inept and needs to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

He nearly took us down because we had europa league to deal with, no plan B as we had no squad depth, so many injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2013 13:57:11
I am hoping that due to Pardews recent comments that he goes at the end of the season. You can't bite the hand that feeds you, silly mistake to make Pards

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 May 2013 13:53:52
I don't understand why people are speculating as to the next manager being either Rafa, RDM, Houlier or Girard. Even if, and it's a big if, Ashley was to get rid of Pardew I'm pretty sure he'd follow the standard he's set. Before Pardew was boss their were names being chucked about and Pardew was certainly not an appealing choice. He'll bring in someone similar, again IF Pardew goes, my money is on a lower league manager or Ashley's personal choice Alan Curbishley.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

13 May 2013 13:29:52
Not bothered if we lose 4-0 next week! Eh is pardew on glue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's only saying that because we've already started planning for next season. there's no time to waste we need top 8 next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a joke calm down

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if it's a joke, it's incredibly unprofessional. Hardly a big deal but he really shouldn't come out with stuff like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2013 10:30:51
Now that we are staying up, we can actually start planning for next year.

But the players we want (and/or) need. I highly doubt that we will get. Due to the fact where we are in the league now, how s**t we were this year, and the fact that we are not in Europe next season.

I know that we all can plan a dream team and say who we would like to come in, but really who wants to come to our club?

Most of the French lot we got in January, was only due to the fact that they were getting taxed 75% in France, so by coming over even if they were on the same wage they would have been getting loads more.

Players Out
Colo - Wants to go back home
Simpson - No new contract
Willo - Just please get him out!
Perch - Please join Willo on the first train outta SJP (thanks)
Jonas - Please just say you want to follow Colo back home
Harper - No new contract
R. Taylor - Out for another season!

6 (and one injured) heading out that we 100% know of

We will need:
3 new centre backs
1 new Utility Man (can play CM/CDM/CB)
1 Left Winger - as we really don't have anyone down the left
someone like HBA with that somthing special, so when he is injured next time we have some back up to play with
1 new goal keeper, because two isn't going to be enough
1 right back, if Simpson goes only young Trav and Debuchy left
2 new forwards, as we only have Cisse and he can't hit a barn door

Its ten new signings, I think we need to actually even attempt to hit the top 7 next season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

10 players is a bit much.

We have a packed midfield, so we really do not need much added in that department, we should moved players on before we bring in anymore.

In my estimation we need 2 strikers and 2 centrebacks.

We will need a like for like for Colo, and another one for cover/competiton to Mbiwa & Taylor.

All in all 4 players.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardew will be in charge next season so I'll be happy with anything above 12th.

Agree0 Disagree0

3rd post

Back pardew or don't support Newcastle. He will be in charge next season, will be given the funds and we will be challenging top 8 no doubt. Want to laugh at me? Let me tell you finishing 5th in one of the hardest leagues in the world and beating man u 3-0 is no fluke. We played lovely football last season and have been playing long ball this season because of lack of fitness, youth players being brought into the team and not having confidence and many other reasons which I can't be bothered to go into.

Agree0 Disagree0

We played lovely football last season? Lol I must need an eye test.

"Lack of fitness"? Surely that's something the great Pardew should of dealt with and sorted out isn't it?

How long are we going to live off finishing fifth and beating Man U last season?

Agree0 Disagree0

So the guessing games begin on if AP will be sacked and who we would like to take over. More interesting though is how we bolster the squad for next year and how we line up. My choices based on Collo unfortunately probably leaving would be:
IN
Loic Remy or Lukakau
Dries Mertens
Danny Rose
Lescott (if Collo goes)
Toby Alderwald
Jordan Rhodes/Charlie Austin

Danny Guthrie as cover for and to put pressure on Cabaye. We always played better football when he was in the team last season and we have missed him this year IMO and we could pick him up for buttons.

Krull
Debuchy Alderwald Collo/Lescott Rose

Santon Cabaye Sissoko Mertens

HBA

Remy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lukakau? Really, Lukakau?
The wonder kid, who Chelsea paid 18million for?
We are going to get him, really?

YOUR LIVING IN DREAM LAND!

Some quick facts for you, he is returning to Chelsea after the weekend
He has said if he goes out on loan again, HE IS ONLY GOING TO A CLUB IN EUROPE!

Use your head!

Agree0 Disagree0

I did not say we would get him, it was just an opinion on who I think we "should" get. Wind your neck in, no need to be so aggressive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol Alderweireld and Mertens could go to teams in the champions league but no they're going to pick our team that's been fighting relegation this season and won't be doing much better next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wind my neck in don't come out with stupid things.

By the way your thinking, we should go for Gomez, Muller and Gortze (spelling)too?
This isn't Championship Manger or Fifa, this is the real world and players like Lu-coco would never come to us.

Its nice to dream, but actually be realistic with what you say. Lukakau is the next Drogba. In other words Champions League team.

Something realistic would have been De-Jong or Bony possibly PEA.

Agree0 Disagree0

If I was to be the next Chelsea boss (I know, I know. ) I would have Lukaku in and Torres out, so no chance there. The names being bandied about on here are nearly all too well known and too expensive. Any signings coming into NUFC will likely be unheard of up to now, like Tiote, Haidara, Gouffran were. And another thing while I'm on. Blowing £10 - £13m on Carroll doesn't look like good business to me unless the transfer budget is a damned sight bigger than we all suspect and there's plenty left over for at least two top-class centre-backs and a left winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2013 08:12:07
It's unbelievable that we've had an awful season with 90% of the time not having a full first 11 and yet we could still easily finish 10th. Next season with the players we've got and a pre season under there belt, just focusing on 1 compition, maybe a top 6?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would say with the squad and a few additions we could challenge the top 8. But only without Pardew. He is clueless and needs to go. His interview after the game tells you all you need to know about him. Not once did he blame himself for this season we have had.

Agree0 Disagree0

13 May 2013 05:31:47
Well ashley. you can back pardew or sack him, we need to be in the top 8 next year, and whether we've got pardew or not I'd like to see a trophy maybe. But also we need to get rid of all the deadwood and get some fresh new players and coaches in.

my heads going to explode. how are we safe now? if we lose to arsenal and wigan win next two games that's even points and our goal difference is horrendous. fair enough its a big ask for all other teams to take points but technically we can still be relegated and everyone knows how football goes for newcastle fans. my heads done in with this. that's all

DP

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes but Villa have less points than us too and they play Wigan on the last day so if Wigan win next two games then Villa will have less points than us. simples

Agree0 Disagree0

We are safe because Wigan play villa so if Wigan do get six points then that means villa will stay on what they are on now. Which is less than us!

We are safe now!

Agree0 Disagree0

We can not be relegated. Wigan play Aston Villa last game of the season.

Both can't get enough to catch us therefore one of them will be relegated. The only other team in serious danger is the makems, as they will not get anything at Spurs.

It all rests on Wigan. If they win their final two games then they stay up. If they don't they are down.

Col

Agree0 Disagree0

. then they stay up and sunderland go down, providing spurs do the business
