{Ed007's Note - The latest I'm hearing (remember this is from the Scottish end of it all) is that Ashley has said today he won't be selling Newcastle until the end of NEXT season (2015/16) and that he has no intention of raising his shareholding in the club currently trading as Rangers.
I said yesterday that the stories of him putting the club up for sale stemmed from the Scottish media regurgitating stories to placate fans of the Ibrox club, Ashley's name is just one of many the media and fans have wrongly championed since the first club's financial problems started, last month it was George Soros, this month Mike Ashley, next month it will be someone else.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like you are stuck with Ashley at least for the very short term future.}

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley insisted he has no plans to sell the club until at least the end of next season.
It was reported on Thursday that he is ready to buy Scottish side Rangers, in which he already has a 9% stake.
"The truth is Mike Ashley remains committed to Newcastle United, " said a statement from the Premier League club.

I like a few others appreciate any rumour about Ashley selling however the info seems to be unfounded but as you say a National Newspaper (which is lost on Vic as it was not the Sun) also picked up on it & perhaps there is no smoke without fire & first time Ashley has had to speak to deny it
