Just wondering what you guys opinion is on this. Up here in Scotland we are obsessed with celtic and rangers joining the epl, but here's a thought.
If uefa ditch the Europa league, which I think they will in next 5 years, they will double the size if the champions league. This would therefor give England 7-8 places and Scotland 5, albeit qualifying could be difficult.

Spl should then invite Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and Carlisle to compete in a northern league.
That's 5 massive teams on a league with huge stadia, as well as potential in 'sleeping giants' of Aberdeen and hearts

Thoughts.

This is just wishful thinking.

And a big No thanks.

Why should we split up the English league.

I will not even mention the disdain that Celtic have for England, and how hypocritical if would be for you to join our leagues.

The SPL inviting teams into a Northern Team League is laughable, what next? A Midlands league & and Southern League?

And we should do all this for Celtic. LOL.

Good one.

Tempting. Ross County or Everton? Umm.

Ha ha ha!

Joining us in the Prem, you are no where near good enough. Maybe a Championship team (rather you stay in Scotland)

Don't yous want to be independent? But let's combine the leagues ey? :-/

Celtic and Rangers should stay where they are, your fans and your teams would cause more problems in our league than enough!

Agree1 Disagree0

If they join the EPL it should be in League 2. No ifs or buts, hence Rangers attempting to wrangle this now. If they join l2 and work their way up, then fair play you can do a Swansea and Cardiff and play in our league and reap the benefits. only if you do it the hard way like they had to.

If they are as big as they think they are, then there should be no issues getting to the prem 3 seasons should there?

Agree3 Disagree0

I suppose I put that across wrong, what I mean is would you rather play in the epl or be playing annually in the CL and competing for domestic cups and titles in a fairly competitive league?

I would think the fans of the north east would find this appealing

Thanks anyway

might of known thurdays match against anzi at ST james a choice between us and chelsea live on itv who did they go for chelsea. makes me puke. geordie tom

Most of our games in the Europa League have been poor quality and most likely we will play for a one nil win whereas Chelsea have to attack and come from behind to get through which should make it a more entertaining game for the neutral.

Got to agree with the second comment here. i'm always looking forward to the thursday night europa games. then by the end of them, i'm bored, fed up, and utterly disenchanted with the quality of football i've sat thru haha. I deserve an award for persevering with it haha

Agree2 Disagree2

Chelsea did so well in the Champions League though. oh, wait, no they didnt.

Agree1 Disagree1

At least there failure was somewhat entertaining, unlike our bore draws
