Seb larson says the main reason he joined Sunderland was because of Steve Howsyerfather Bruce, well I am no betting man but before the season is out so will Stevie.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

I think we did speak to larson in january transfer window but that was it as he was a free agent and age limit is right if we were interested we would have spoken to him there has been no contact i believe in this window Ed does this sound right ...

{Ed042's Note - Hard to know, being 100% truthful we may have still have been somewhat interested come the summer, never made an approach though.. we had confirmed interest in January, but may have been a Hughton target that Pardew didnt want to follow up on.. Bruce stated when he signed that there was interest from a number of other clubs in England and Europe but none were named}

Agree0 Disagree0

We wanted to buy him in Jan as he would have been cheap and we need cover to the injurys we had it didnt happen and come the summer wasnt interested coz hes average.(WelshToon)

Agree1 Disagree1

You wanted to buy him in jan coz he was cheap but this summer you didn't want him because he is average. what a hypocrite you are welshtoon and talking utter rubbish as usual, actually read what you put and see how stupid it sounds. The fact is he didn't want to sign for you in Jan and the summer and he came to the top dogs instead

Agree2 Disagree2

If that's the case Newcastle beat Sunderland to the signings of Ba, Marveaux and Cabaye Sunderland weren't interested but saying yous are saying you beat us to a player we never enquired about it's the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sunderland weren't after the Marveaux the crock and Cabaya were we? giving Ba a crock 4m in wages a year good one eh? and you signed him from a championship side as youn say we signed Larsson, Gardner and Vaughan from championship sides

Agree0 Disagree0

To the SMB's post wow I'm not even going to argue with you maybe you should read that post again this time slowly and then you might understand it and realise how stupid you look.

Right let get this sorted, thought the toon fans were known to be delusional at times but honestly think some of the mackems are really getting ahead of themselves so heres some info, take it on board or dont, think i m fair enough in my assessment, as always.....

Players Out... Henderson... Riveros... Zenden
Loans Gone... Mensah... Wellbeck... Onouha... Muntari
Injuries... Campbell... Out for Season

Players In....

Westwood... Decent keeper but honestly would rather Krul or Forster, conceded 58 goals last season, Coventry finished 18th in Championship

O Shea.... Brown... Ideal scenario, very good signings, but only brought in to replace Onouha and Mensah who are both gone, doesnt give the team any more depth, but granted improved first team

Larsson... Gardner... Vaughan... Can be talked up all you want but all played for sides that went down last season... think theyre all not bad signings but only one I think is a genuinely good player is Gardner, but just for the odd goal, had no assists last year... and again, have only replaced what youve lost, no added depth to squad

El Mohamady... No goals and 2 assists in 30 odd games... says it all really, looks better than he actually is, Jonas even destroys that return, and I think he is brutal... muntari gone as well now so again, no added depth

Ji Dong Won... Wickham... Cant knock them yet, two unproven strikers, both very young, could be good, but are a gamble... Wickham in particular if hes being looked at as fairly instant first team push... 9 goals in 27 + 14 sub appearances... Ameobi got 11 goals in 13... Lovenkrands 16 in 21 in the Championship... understand hes young but if he was that promising his return should be a lot better.... and Once Again, no more depth, wellbeck gone, campbell out for most of the season... unless another very good stiker comes in thats a decrease in quality in my opinion

Anyway, conclusion is all these signings are great to see, but club loyalty aside, objectively, are Sunderland really going to be that much better? what have they done to address what happened them at the end of last season when injuries kicked in and the form went to the dogs because there was no squad to back up what was a decent first team doing well... not having a go, think some of the signings are good for Sunderland, and will improve the first team, I think O Shea and Brown specifically, all i m saying is they better hope that first team stays fit all season

KRTOON

Believable9 Unbelievable0

How can these playas stay fit all season some of them past 30 and known injury prones lol (WelshToon)

Agree2 Disagree0

Excellent assessment KRTOON. Agree with most of your statement but think Wes Brown can be got at.

Agree1 Disagree0

Wes Brown can be got at, just have to go to treatment room to get at him

Agree2 Disagree0

I think ye canny good with ye post krtoon but lately i think steve bruces signing must be getting ye worried as ye seem to be more concerned who we have signed lately. last week ye gave a good post comparing players from both sides and i agreed with all but the campbell one as he is out injured just thinking are ye a closet mackem or one of those that one week goes to sjp and the next to sol
one gary rowell

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha cheers gary lad... done what very few can do there, complimented and insulted me in the same post ha... just to clear up any confusion... has nothing to do with being worried trust me .. and as far as being a closet mackem, that makes me genuinely feel a bit ill... been as loyal a Toon fan as they come for a good twenty years now...

Reason I have posted on Sunderlands goings on as well as Newcastle in recent times is basically because theres a lot of gossip, transfers, banter, comparisons and delusions on both sides... both sets of fans check out the posts and it sets off some good feedback and banter sometimes... real football talk not just abuse back and forth...

Main reason is because just as a football fan, I think the two clubs have two very different visions or projects in mind at the moment, and are really putting them into action this summer... just think its a very interesting and unique situation to have to rival clubs who happen to be in relatively the same position, with the same aspirations for the future go at it in two completely different ways... for the record, I prefer our way, young talent, exciting, pacey, technically gifted players, definitely the way to go for some entertaining football, we tried your way, it didnt work for us, actually got us relegated in the end

Final reason, as boring as it is, i m an aspiring writer, and its a good challenge to write something that can cut out the basic bog standard abusive reply from a mackem on a toon site if its talking the Sunderland team down or Newcastle team up..

Anyway longer reply than I intended but there you go... cheers anyway gary, glad you like the posts

Nice one again but sunderland are not in a financial position to go out and buy 9 or 10, multi million pound players i think the mixture of experiance that bruce has bought will help some of our younger players next season. on numerous cases albeit down to injuries we fielded the youngest side to ever play in the premiership. i cant understand some of the fans on here getting on ashleys case as i think he is doing a good job just as our owner and chairman quinn who has stated that for him sunderland is a five year plan and i can see what ashley is doing at newcastle somehow resembles the same way sunderland are going. yourselves have bought young french lads we have sessegnon and gyan from france. i think both clubs have a good plan and in the future both teams should adapt to the premiership and challenge for european places in the next couple of seasons. whoevers plan works out first good luck to them but it wont be long before the other is challenging and i can only see good times ahead for the north east. anyway keep up the banter and the rivalry thats what these pages are for believers and optimists.

ed i nearly choked on me coffee luque should have been better than hernandez at least he redeemed himself saying his worse than ameobi no wonder us smbs come on here what a laugh keep it up geordies

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha i laughed when u said henderson was any good and also that brown and oshea were top class players lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Lost me off on that one are ye sure ye replying to the right post daft lad

{Ed042's Note - ignore him, hes a bit special ha.. think it was it wrong post lad.... as for luque, he had a great rep and record coming to the club but couldnt stay fit to save his life!.. as for a comparison to hernandez... there is none, that lad is the real deal, no question!}

Just wanted to confirm an earlier post. Nzogbia was at Washington services 2 hours ago, we were behind him on the motorway and he took the slip road for Newcastle..

Believable3 Unbelievable3

And then he went aww man i took a wrong turning ment to take the A184 to sunderland :P

{Ed042's Note - Haha fair play, had to chuckle at that :) for more than one reason :P }

Agree0 Disagree2

Why lie, he cant drive? haha

Agree1 Disagree1

Just heard N'Zogbia went to blunderland took one look at the stadium ..puked his ploughmans up and left

Agree0 Disagree0

You right he cant and it was well reported last year about him getting done for letting a mate of his turn up at his test to act as him to get him thru his test

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 12:23:45
I can't understand why people are claiming N'zogbia wants to come back to us......When he was here, he was constantly moaning and claiming he would move to a bigger club if they came in for him. Then he was forced into a move to Wigan after the Joe Kinnear saga.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Did you see the goals he scored against us at St James last season, thats why we want him, if he can do that for Wigan what can he do for us wih the classy mid field we now have.

Agree3 Disagree1

HAHAHAHAH, Classy midfield, LMFAO

Agree1 Disagree1

Id say classy, if it was classy enough to beat ur shower last season 5-1 id say it was more classy now (WelshToon)

Agree1 Disagree2

He went to a bigger club in wigan maybe not in fan base but potential so why would he want to take a backward step if he does leave wigan it will only be for an ambitious club maybe a liverpool arsenal sunderland or qpr

Agree1 Disagree2

Our mid is 10000000 times better then mackems

Agree4 Disagree0

Larsson - Gardner - Cattermole - Malbranque
Against
Jonas - Cabaye - Tiote - Marveaux
with ben arfa sitting infront... so thats argentinia, french and ivory coast internationals against erm... yeah thats embarassing, if kevin nolan scored 4 goals against you last year, god help you's this

Agree4 Disagree1

And when was the last time france argentina and ivory coast won anything the way they have gone back they might end up waitning as long as newcastle

Agree2 Disagree3

What about richardson, Vaughn, Elmo, O'shea can play midfield, and we got one for the future who is injured in Meyler, so yes we have a better midfield than you's, who you got 2 frenchmen who dont know the EPL, and most of your fans had never heard of them till you signed them then watched them on you tube, Jonas can run with the ball, but my son is a better prospect than him, he is crap, tiote is the only decent one there, Nolans gone, barton will be soon, your midfield will struggle big time without them, so where you get the idea that your midfield is better than ours i dont know obviously blinkered and havent got a clue

Agree2 Disagree4

Do these smb honestly think they have a better midfield? I mean come on be serious, it's no shame to admit your biggest rivals have a better midfield. I admit you lot have a better defence + strike force

Agree3 Disagree0

You bang on about Ben Arfa, scored one wonder goal, fair one got injured but he is the new messi for you, wait until he plays alot of games before you say he is class, Sessegnon is miles better than him, scored 3 goals in 4, so sunderlands midfield next season, Larsson, Gardner, Cattermole, Vaughan or a new signing on the left, Tiote and Jonas will be sold, Barton will be off so you will have two unproven french midfielders, Ben Arfa who hasn't had much prem experience coz he was injured, you have sold your best goalscoring player in Nolan and you say you have the best midfield. Keep dreaming

Agree0 Disagree2

First of all nobody has compared him to Messi and even though he only played a few times majority of other fans will agree that he is class player the ones that can afford skysports who have seen him play for Lyon, Marseille and France.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ben arfa will show why we all rate him but to the guy who just posted that Sunderland are in the same bracket as liverpool and arsenal, come on man you cant do that Not in any book are these clubs comparable to the bingo shed on the wear What a load of crap Ambitious they might be but not Safc bunch of has beens

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but tiote is not the only decent one there. fair enough jonas is not brilliant and marveaux we'll have to see how he fares. but yohan cabaye is a class act.

Agree0 Disagree0

In the french league maybe but the premiership is a hard league to get used to. the french league is like the championship

Agree0 Disagree0

Sick of people saying Ligue 1 is the same level as the Championship let's have a look Ligue 1 has Bastos, Lopez, Gourcuff, Gameiro, Sakho, Remy, Ayew, Valbueana, Hazard, Sow, Lloris, Matuidi, Sissoko, Payet, M'vila, Cissokho to name a few of the many International players plying there trade in that Ligue the Championship has only a few International players.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ligue 1 along with serie a, la liga are maybe not as competitiveas the premiership but they have alot of real good players in them Premiership isnt even the best league for players as that will be La liga but french football isnt as bad as people saying and thats not just cos we signed a couple of them Arsenal has just signed one of them too and do you think he is that bad? What about benzema? he in spain now but was till last year in france? he can play

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 12:53:44
What do we recon of the new away kit then? :/

Believable2 Unbelievable1

What the orange one? Its a required taste. I think it'll be like the bannana kit we wore in the ch/ship disgusting at first till we get used to it and wear it with pride.

Agree3 Disagree1

12 Jul 2011 12:06:43
We don't need a forward give Phil airy a chance to prove his self cos he will always score goals

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Think the way its looking and the way our transfer targets seem to be being sought there is a good chance of airey getting first team action this coming season Should be pushing his way into first team squad too so could be a surprise name on matchdays

Agree0 Disagree0

12 Jul 2011 09:29:15
Have Newcastle made a huge error in not snapping up Ibrahim Bangura before now? Think there will be more than us interested in him now that hes made a mark on the international front, obviously a 2nd or 3rd striker for this season until he develops in a bigger club and league but still, have a feeling we ve missed our chance on a very clever, cheap signing

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Just as I thought.. Latest is scouts from Liverpool were at the game against Halmstad BK along with a reported 10 other representatives from other European clubs to watch the two Banguras.. missed our chance

Agree2 Disagree0

Liverpool have switched their attention to Cissokho and Bastos... Arsenal seem to have faith in Gibbs, have Armand Traore back from loan.. and Barca claim no interest.. Could we keep Enrique? Do we want to if he wants to leave?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I noticed near the end of last season, although Enrique was still plating well he became a lot greedier with the ball and was taking on more opposition men than usual.

Does anyone think maybe he was trying to impress potential suitors before the season finished.

My point is I think Enrique is probably the best Spanish left back in the world just now but is he worth keeping if he is not committed to the club?

Geo

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes I noticed a differance in his play on the last few games, semed to be sulking a bit.

Agree2 Disagree1

Keep him right and he plays well but when he in a mood he just drifts in and out of games Typical spaniard really but alot of teams havent come in for him cos he is free next year and that appeals to buyers
