Enjoyed this evenings match - great attendance and DiCanio was simply class! Bing

Fairplay to Di Canio. He must've known he'd be the panto Gillian last night. Good send off for one our boys and a lot of money raised for charity. Good show from all involved.

Newcastle and The career Benchwarmer Harper 1- AC Milan and Di Canio 2.

Did shearer score? Did Di canio? #dirtyknees #dicanio scores. #newcastle lose #respect to newcastle fans #great attendance 50k.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm a sunderland fan and I went to the game, many sunderland fans did because of Dicanio and I'm sure he was a big draw for newcastle fans too.

I would say that their were thousands of sunderland fans at the game tonight. I know the whole branch of billingham sunderland fans did they put a bus on. As did newton aycliffe.

Remarkable attendance of 50k, Niall Quinns was just under 40k. So well done geordies. Saying that Quinn became a legend after retiring when he bought the club, if Quinn was to have a testimonial now I'm certain it would sell out asap ten times over.

But 50k for a reserve keeper respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a mackem but you have to give the geordies respect they turn out in their droves when it matters.

Agree0 Disagree0

2 very good mackems who are completely the opposite to jeez

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm gutted.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeez, lol

The Toon are looking at ROONY Van Percie we can't buy them just looking same as looking at Ince and all the others with no intention of buying just sounds good

I wouldn't mind Lee Clark as our next manager. done good at Birmingham with no budget so he is use to not having any money to spend.

An ideal Director of Football would be Keegan. A figurehead for the club. World known name. New owners, get rid of Joke Kinnear, Pardew, Carver and Stone. This club is stagnating under Mike Trashley and, on the field, going nowhere with the clueless manager and coaches. Bring Keegan in upstairs, Shearer in a not so prominent role, they are BOTH respected in football on the world stage, and a good up and coming young manager. AVB type of manager. Maybe then we could look forward to match day instead of all the doom and gloom before we head to St. James Park.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Obsessed with keegan why? Yes he helped form newcastle united in 1992, no one heared of the club before then and plastic fans and the media jumped on the bandwagon but he won nowt. All keegan did was raise newcastles profile and increase fanbase. He failed to deliver then walked twice.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree but i'm not sure if Keegan is too bright in the business department, that's what JFK lacked.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plastics fans the mackem cries. Remind me when you lot fill your ground? That's right when a new messiah is appointed for the first home game and that's it. First defeat and back in the woodwork you go.

Agree0 Disagree0

We should have kept Barton, and added Redknapp by now. That is if Ashley had any idea what he was doing.

Redknapp was the perfect fit, he awakened sleeping Giants Tottenham, so it was clear as day he should have been at Newcastle next.

Redknapp and Carr would be quite a combination, a top scout and a wheeler dealer, even on a limited budget Redknapp would have moved things around to get who he wanted.

Agree0 Disagree0

When do newcastle fill their ground? 46k their the other day against fulham ground holds what 53k? 5 year season tickets at sjp AND FREE TICKETS FOR SCHOOLS. My nephew goes to a school in Newcastle and he gets a free ticket for every game for the smaller clubs outside the top 6. He got free tickets to 11 games last season so its not only sunderland giving away free tickets FACT.

Lastly read the next bit carefully.

This season.

NEWCASTLE v fulham 3pm ko 46, 001

SUNDERLAND v fulham 3pm ko 43, 905

difference of 2, 096 - not as much a difference as people make out between us.

Fulham have poor away support but same for both clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redknapp a wheeler dealer?Bargains hey?ask Portsmouth fans about redknapp and he's wheeler dealer deals. He ruined that club financially.

Agree0 Disagree0

''Redknapp a wheeler dealer?Bargains hey?ask Portsmouth fans about redknapp and he's wheeler dealer deals. He ruined that club financially. ''

Actually that was the fault of the owner. And we are not similar to Portsmouth, we are similar to Tottenham before Redknapp arrived.

I stand by my point.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you think we didn't fill our ground? IT'S BECAUSE WE WANT ASHLEY OUT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redknapp would be a great manager for us, but I think he wants to live in the south

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha liverpool fan here and that newcastle fan talking about attendances just got owned by that sunderland fan. The sunderland fan is right newcastles fans and attendances are overrated.

Talking about Redknapp HE WAS TO BLAME FOR PORTSMOUTHS MESS. He asked for more money in fact DEMANDED it citing the club needed to show ambition and threatening to walk from the job.

Redknapp made a lot of money from portsmouths business deals. He had offshore accounts in he's dogs name and has been accused of being a tax fraud not by me I must stress. I wouldn't touch Redknapp if he was the last man available and worked for free.

Agree0 Disagree0

And yet Redknapp turned Tottenham in to a better team than Liverpool.

Btw, Redknapp got results at Portsmouth, he is a manager, not a chairman. It his job to get the best players he can, pushing for a budget is what good managers do. How is it Redknapp's fault if the club owner had no idea what he was doing with his finances?

Are you telling me that Redknapp knew how much money Mandaric had in his bank account? Absurd!

Redknapp left Tottenham a top 4 club.

Redknapp is also responsible for producing some of the best England players at West Ham. Rio, Joe Cole, Lampard, Carrick, etc etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

How did the Sunderland fan own us, he simply does not understand why the attendance is low, IT'S BECAUSE WE WANT ASHLEY OUT SO WHY GIVE MORE MONEY TO HIM. Anyway Sunderland fans can't talk, you leave the stadium 15mins early when you're drawing! LOL

Agree0 Disagree0

Excuses, excuses. Ashley doesn't give a sh*t whether you turn up or not.
Enough of you turn up to make him a profit.
Poor team, poor management and poor ( for Newcastle ) attendances go hand in hand.

Agree0 Disagree0

Poor attendances because we don't want ashley

it does nt though does it Jeez? 2 homes games and near on sell outs. Our biggest strength is our biggest weakness. Loyalty. Something Sunderland fans know nothing about already slating your new messiah for the start you have made and that is him being back to the full. Would love to see your attendances if you had our owner. Free ticket being mentioned take a look twitter. Sunderland sending out free tickets to former season tickets holders for the Liverpool game. The new revolution really taking shape.

Agree0 Disagree0

BOTH clubs give out free tickets and so they should. Both give free tickets to schools I have witnessed first hand.

Sunderland are giving former season ticket holders free tickets for the liverpool game but its for season ticket holders who have had a ticket for years but not renewed this season.

Reason I know this is my nephew has a free ticket for Liverpool after not renewing this season he's had a season ticket over five years, my other nephew only had he's season ticket two years and not renewed but he never got a free ticket. My brother rang ticket office to ask why and they confirmed they are trying to entice long term former season ticket holders back.

Nothing wrong with that a business ploy.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - all clubs set aside tickets for the local community, it is standard practice to give them out to schools and youth clubs for free. Whether it is Manchester United or Cheltenham Town, they all do it.}

How did the sunderland fan own us, he simply does not understand why the attendance is low, it's because we want ashley out so why give more money to him. anyway sunderland fans can't talk, you leave the stadium 15mins early when you're drawing! lol

you leave 15 minutes early when you are 3-0 down??

Agree0 Disagree0

Or even better leave when you are 0-2 down and then even more at 0-3 down!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets not talk about leaving the stadium early. If memory serves me right Sunderland fans were trying to leave at half time during your 5-1 mauling. Leaving at 3 down with minutes to play can hardly be compared.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sunderland fans leave when they're still drawing! I think that's even worse isn't it?

So tonight is steve harpers testimonial I for one am really looking forward to it but I have heard a few things going around about people wanting to enter the pitch and give physical abuse to Di Canio which is absolutley outrageous the man is there to help raise charity, so boo do what ever you want from the stands but its a testimonial match so just enjoyed it like a normal human being like i'm going to

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im sure they won't "physically abuse him" he's doing it for charity, so respect that. After all it doesn't really matter who wins, just enjoy it.

Agree0 Disagree0

As someone said earlier dicanio will be treated as a Panto villian it will be banter.

Agree0 Disagree0

The mans doing it for charity just for once grow up and support the man Harper, it's his night not yours the mans given you 20yrs but no doubt there'll b one or two persons who spoil it.

Don't know too much about Finnbogasson but is Tom Ince worth anything like the 10 million people are talking about? Why did Liverpool release him?Carry on looking abroad for value.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool didn't release him, he rejected their contract offer as he wanted guaranteed first team football.}

Danger for Newcastle is they may agree a deal
but will not pay the wages as has been seen
with Douglas & Gomis.
Joker brought in to ensure there is no over spending

Llambias had players lined up & resigned because of this

Newcastle are in a wilderness and will struggle
to stay in the Premiership with players
looking to leave for higher salaries.

People who think Trashley had righted this
club NEED their heads looking at

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would not be surprised if we have an agreement in place to sign him for free next summer, or at least something similar to the deal for Sissoko, where he can come in early for a reduced fee, if we are in trouble at Xmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if Llambias was still here, we would of signed Ince, Finnbogasson, Douglas and Zoet. Along with Remy. Because kinnear was brought in (He was good friends with ashley) Llambias resigned as he probs didn't like him
