do we really want gervinho.he has said arsenal is where he wants to go .we don't want players who don't want to play for nufc, remember owen and luque we paid out fortunes in wages/fees and got little in return.

Has anyone actually quoted him saying so? I still think its up the air.

{Ed010's Note -Demba Ba has a release clause in his contract which does make him a free agent but it has been reported that if he is to sign for any club in the EPL, they must meet his £4m a year wage demands.

BULLSH!T, ED WHERE DID YOU GET THIS FROM.
DEMBA BA IS ON 28K A WEEK AT WEST HAM. SO NEWCASTLE WOULD HAVE TO OFFER HIM AT LEAST 76K A WEEK TO MAKE HIS 4M A YEAR. HE ONLY SAID THAT WEST HAM IF THEY WANNA KEEP HIM. ALL HE WANTS IS FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL IN TOP FLIGHT AND NEWCASTLE CAN GARUNTEE THAT. {Ed001's Note - so you are saying that he would want the low wage he accepted at West Ham to put himself in the shop window (hence the release clause) when he moves elsewhere?}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Is that why west ham want to double his wage to 60k a week to help them to get back to the premier league

How can we sign demba ba when he demands 85 grand a week when we have a wage cap of 50 grand

Believable3 Unbelievable1

We won't have to pay for him so the money we'll save from a transfer fee will be used to pay his wages. I think £80000 is a bit much and I think that was overexagerated by the papers. £60-70 grand is more realistic I think

Agree0 Disagree0

Editor reckons his on 4 mill a year if that's true works out about 80k a week

{Ed010's Note -I edited your post as you obviously hit the wrong button when posting the weekly wage. Hope that was in order. Ed10

Agree0 Disagree0

He won't demand 85 grand a week. Some people are even saying we can more than double his wages. Hes on 20 grand a week. I think he will become a decent striker if we can get him

Leon bests goals tally in prem is just as good as demba bas don't rate any of them, certainly on 80k a week. . del

You may click the 'unbelievable' button because you are disappointed but it really does look like Gervinho is going elsewhere. .

Expected ins include Ba and N'Zogbia. Ba apparently agreed terms last Friday but will not be unveiled until after the medical. As for N'zogbia, Cabaye said he told him "Go to Newcastle, it's a great club with Great fans". .

The Zog sounds like he's begging to be back. Fee said to be 12m as Wigan expect to be in direct competition to survive against us so are charging an extra 3m.

why would west ham sell demba ba to newcastle if they wanted nolan that badly and need to get rid of ba obviously a swap with west ham getiing 3 million would be logical so don't build ye hopes up as west ham won't sell to newcastle unless nolan is part of the deal

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Demba ba is on a free which was in his contract so west ham can't demand nolan cause newcastle are not paying anything and u really think nolan would step down to the championship.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ba will leave West Ham for free due to a clause in his contract, so why would we accept him as part of an offer for Nolan??? (Toon4Life)

Agree0 Disagree0

Got no option 4 god sake he is on a free because there is a clause in his contract west ham can't do nothing about it

Agree0 Disagree0

Oops sorry my mistake he has a clause where he has to be paid so many millions a season which puts him out of newcastles wage structure that ashley is trying to bring in sorry lads

Just been listening to Talksport on the way to work. Phil Smith (football agent) believes that if Arsenal were so interested in Gervinho, then they would have made their move by now. He does not think he is an Aresenal type of player, and Arsenal normally move pretty quickly when they target someone. Man City also said to be showing interest. Spurs the only team to have bid.Gervinho holding out for Arsenal but time not on his side. Psycho

Yohan Cabaye has been an excellent first acquisition for Newcastle this summer, and not only is he a very good technically skilled player, but Newcastle also got him for a low 5M.

Charles N Zogbia can Newcastle get him back to Tyneside?

There are now just over three weeks before pre-season training starts, and Alan Pardew will want to get at least another three players through the door by then at least.

Exactly who those players will be we don t know but if reports are to be believed here are four players who may be coming in.

Charles N Zogbia 25 years old Charles has done himself a lot of good over the last few months as he has continually praised the Newcastle club and their terrific fans.
A source close to the player says he left as a boy, and wants to return as a man, and having persuaded Yohan Cabaye to sign for Newcastle, it would be fitting if Newcastle can bring Charles back to Tyneside.
And although he had a bit of a spotty last 18 months at Newcastle, we think the fans will welcome him back and at least if he comes it s because he wants to play for Newcastle again.
Charles would be a terrific buy if Newcastle can get him for £9M.
Neil Taylor 22 years old It seems that Newcastle have the inside track on this young Welsh left-full back who can also play on the left wing, and he s presumably available for just £1M from newly promoted Swansea.
But fans haven t forgotten another signing from the Championship Newcastle made last summer James Perch who hasn t made the grade on Tyneside, and just doesn t look good enough.
Newcastle also signed Mike Williamson for a low £1M, and he has been a big success at the back for the Magpies and continues to improve.
One thing we do like about owner Mike Ashley is that his scouting staff seem very good, and make some good buys like Check Tiote, Simpson and Williamson as three examples who cost only a total of £5M and are all starters at Newcastle.
From what we can tell, Neil Taylor would be a very good buy, and he would be given the chance next season, either to fill in for Jose Enrique if he leaves or challenge for a first team spot on the left hand side of the field.
And we have a feeling he will come in whether Jose Enrique stays or goes, but we have to think the Spaniard will leave Newcastle in the summer, although Liverpool now seem to be after Arsenal s Gael Clichy for £5M, which is less than the £8M asking price for Enrique.
Mike Ashley will look at the situation as Neil Taylor and Shane Ferguson can fight it out for the left-back position and Newcastle will be at least £7M better off and Shane and Neil will be getting less combined than Jose s wages.
Demba Ba 26 years old - It s hard to know which reports in the papers are true, but if some of yesterday s reporting is to be believed, Newcastle are in a good position to get Demba Ba, although the Journal today is saying he is indeed a target, but will not be arriving imminently, as Newcastle also check out other striker targets.
But as a free agent this Senegal International has already proved he can score goals in the Premier League, and Demba could turn out to be another bargain buy for the club. The only problem with this player is his knee, and whether that will prevent Newcastle signing him this summer, as it did at Stoke City last January.
Daniel Sturridge 21 years old There hasn t been too much news about Newcastle being interested in this 21 year-old top striker, and Daniel himself has said he will fight i tout at Chelsea.
But surely Newcastle can tempt the youngster to come to Newcastle, as we are also hoping that Alan Pardew will bring in two strikers this summer and not one.
Whenever we watched this lad play for Bolton he made the Lancashire side look so much more dangerous when he was in the side, and if Newcastle don t want to buy him we could challenge Bolton to get him on a season-long loan deal but we really like the look of this player.
Those are some of our thoughts, and we think all four players would be excellent buys for the club at around £20M for the four.

And notice we didn t even mention Gervinho or Kevin Gameiro as it doesn t look like either player will be arriving at Newcastle, although we could be wrong on that we hope we are wrong on that.

As West Ham don't have cash, and a resigned to Scott Parker leaving, rather than have one of their 'useless lot', why don't we say, Nolan & 4m for Parker. They get a little cash, and a player who would again excel in the Championship?

Hope we are watching Shaqiri in the u21's. Would love to see him here.

Dying to see some quality strikers come in also, get rid of Ameobi, Lovenkrands. Ba to come n sit on the bench. Pavlyuchenko, Defoe, Rondon, Osvaldo, Sow, Odvaldo?

players in=44m

sell- ameobi 4m routlage 1.5m lovenkrands 2m smith 1m gutierrez 7m guthrie 2m

players out= 17.5m

that is only 26.5m spent from carrol's 35m! so we can spend on young players now or on players in January!

Hmm Not sure whether we were really in for Gervinho or not, but either way it looks like we won't get him now (although he hasn't signed for anyone yet). But moving on surely our priority has to be two strikers who will score goals. I think we now have a good creative and mobile midfield in Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Gosling etc. Would agree and now sell Barton and Nolan if we could get close to £9million for the pair (provided reinvested) I would like either or both Menez or Martin. I think we want some youth and experience upfront, players who have something to prove and not getting regular football at their present clubs. In this country I would say Defoe and Sturridge around 15 - 20 million for the pair. Alternatively from abroad I would like us to looking at Osvaldo and Sow uto 25million for pair. Osvaldo looks a great lone sriker with players running off him and playing in a mid table spanish team. Sow (gauranteed champs league football) but if he wants to prove himself EPL is the place to be. Top scorer in French league last season. What are your thoughts? Finally I think Enrique will stay with Liverpool offering on Clichy. We need a right back and centre half struggling with players in mind would have liked Samba (looks Arsenal bound) big and strong would compliment Coloccini.

Spare me, you didn't KNOW Gervinho wouldn't sign, you just assumed. Its easy enough to say I told you so when he doesn't but it was just a guess made by a pessimist. You had no proof to back it up.
