I see Sunderland have just confirmed Roberto De Fanti and Valentino Angeloni as Director of Football and Chief scout respectively. The latter was chief scout at Inter and both have impressive credentials.

Must admit i'm pretty jealous of this and the direction sunderland are going.

No not down hehe

But you must admit Ellis Short has good ideas for them and wish we had him in charge of Newcastle.

They obviously mean business and have a long term goal and building something there. Unlike ashley.

Can see them getting some top italians and bargains.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do we care who they put in charge. Obviously a mackem.

Agree0 Disagree0

AND? . .

Agree0 Disagree0

Oooo get them. Well at least we haven't got a league one manager. And at least we know finishing 5th isn't completely out of our depth.

Agree0 Disagree0

And I should be bothered about this. Why?

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardews last job was Southampton in league one!

Agree0 Disagree0

Chief scout at Inter, there's a laugh and a half right there.

Inter has been in decline ever since Mourinho left, and even then Mourinho was playing oldies.

And we all know exactly how much of a negative effect a Director of football has. If Big clubs have problems between managers and directors of football imagine what will happen to a small club like Sunderland.

You have to laugh at Sunderland creating all these Hierarchy positions like they are Man City while they have a 2nd rate squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

But pardew has managed a prem team. Di canio will soon lead sunderland to another relegation football. I really don't care about sunderland getting a director of football or a chief scout. Nobody should ever be jealous of their rivals, let alone sunderland being a smaller club than us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on 8th post!

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually, when Mourinho left Inter, Their best players either retired or left

If you look at inter, They have a few Rising stars due to Sunderlands new scout, never know, might fu*k things up at Sunderland

Agree0 Disagree0

Just reading that the impressive credentials of the new chief scout at Sunderland, Valention Angeloni extend to a successful 4 year spell at Udinese as well, where he uncovered, amongst others, Alexis Sanchez, David Pizzaro, Vicenzo Iaquinta, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan.
Apparently the new Director of Football Roberto De Fanti was 'instrumental' in the appointment of Di Canio.
Looks like Sunderland are putting together a tight knit 'team' over there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sunderland have a second rate squad? Beat you 3 nill also just finished below you and you deluded clowns think you have a good squad.

Sunderland are re building the whole squad and some quality players will be brought in.

I guarantee sunderland will be top ten next season AT LEAST.

Also smaller club OK where's Jesmond geordie.

Agree0 Disagree0

So di canio leading sunderland to relegation but please tell me how many teams pardew has led to relegation, just a few and almost you lot last season

2013/14 Newcastle Team (Hopful) 4-5-1
Krul
Debuchy-Sakho (PSG)-Collo-Santon

Benarfa-Wanyama (Celtic)-Cabaye-Anita/Tiote-Marveaux

Bony (Vitesse)

Bench: Elliot, Saylor, Mbiwa, Tiote/Anita, Gouffran, Sammy, Campbell

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Where's Sissoko?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama is rated at £10 mill + so no chance of that.
Lee Clark wants Shane ferguson back we should try and get Nathan remond as part of the deal only 18 and seems set to follow in the footsteps of Walcott, ox chamberlain, ince etc and as we all l ow English players fetch a premium.

Agree0 Disagree0

Will face BIG competition to get Sakho of Top clubs

just watching the match of the day highlights where we beat man u 3-0! good times! remember this team that went up against a tough man u squad:
4-4-2
Krul
Simpson Williamson Coloccini Santon
Taylor Cabaye Tiote Jonas
Ba Ameobi

I remember watching it on tv 1, we marked man for man and when man u attacked we'd pile loads of pressure on them and our defence stayed very resilient, tiote, colo and willo silenced rooney! simmo off the line! And santon made loads of runs forward, when we attacked, we were brave, didn't just attack with like 3 or 4 men, like mid table teams do against top quality teams. We were brave, had imagination, although it was quite route one, but it worked. And I remember the co-commentator saying before ba scored, "I think newcastle are maybe just throwing too many bodies going forward, they need to be a bit more careful just be wary of counter attacks" but you know what? It paid off!

i'm a very positive fan and i'm confident we will return to these sort of times in the next few years.
Keep the faith!

An optimist at last! Sir, I salute you! The miserable self-styled realists have monopolised this site for far too long.

I hope wore Graham Carr is at the under 21 championships and he is watching the Dutch they have some class. Ed do you think we are interested in maher, wijnaldum, de Jong, John, martins indi, de vrij. All great players and future world class

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If he was watching England he would have seen the crap that the nuggets on here want us to sign rather than the hated 'mercenary foreigners'.

Does anyone think we would have a chance of signing Victor Moses? The club obviously rate him as we tried before he left Palace for Wigan and must be surplus to requirements at Chelsea with their transfer plans, he would be excellent on the left of an attacking 3.
Also what about a bid for Sinclair as I can't see him even getting a squad number at Citeh.
Spire Toon.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sincalir is a maybe, but I think he may end up at Liverpool. Moses will probably go to Everton.

However, if no one goes in for them, and we make a late move then who knows. But the above is more likely

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Moses will cost too much, Sinclair will be reasonable (ish), I think wil cost around £6-7m.

With all this talk of us only buying 2 players and 1 of those being a striker. It is a little bit of a worry that Pardew has openly stated he would have Carrol back but they don't seem to want to match the £15 million that West Ham have had excepted. How much do they think a good striker is going to cost. Penny pinching again is going to along with Pardew keep us in the bottom half.

Sh Ameobi-1m
Cisse-18m

In:

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hate to burst your bubble, but sadly, I only agree with Alex Pearce

Sakho is too good and being chased by arsenal and spurs

Mertens, again is on top clubs wish list

We have cooled our interest in Bony

And how can you rate Weimann at 3m!
He's worth around 8m

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for that Pardew. Now we know who is coming and who is going. What formation you going got play next season?

Agree0 Disagree0

Forget Weimann - now signed a new contract with Villa.
