if Dong or bong is a decent full back we could use Santon as defence midfield player when tiote is suspended or in Africa

Eds, out of these Centre Backs, who would you think would be most likely to sign this January?
1) James Tomkins
2) Douglas
3) Isimat-Mirin
Cheers
R {Ed001's Note - oh damn, I am not sure whether I forgot to select a box or if I did post it up and you posted it twice. I think it is more likely I made a mistake and forgot to post it onto the site so I will reply again, at the risk of looking a complete fool, rather than the incomplete one I usually look! Douglas is out of contract in the summer, so he would seem the obvious favourite, low price, looking to move etc. But I know Pardew really rates Tomkins, that Newcastle have made enquiries about signing him and that he is not currently first choice for them. So, as I know little about the other lad (though I will have to ask about as he is being linked with a number of clubs), I will have to say Tomkins would be the most likely, in my opinion.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

If Tomkins doesn't make the first team for West Ham then I fear how he'll do for us...

Some players I think we should seriously look at:
An offer has already been made but I would only like bong for rotation for him and santon, not as a replacement.
Yann M'Vila, qpr might get him but I reckon he'd be good sitting along side tiote and cabaye.
Isimat Mirin, young solid centre back, replace Williamson.
Hangeland/Tomkins 2 good solid defenders but would prefer hangeland
Remy/Aubameyang I think remy has a bit more experience, and I think a move of leagues would regain his form. They are both the exact kind of players we need, clinical, skillful, powerful and quick, something we haven't got.
Moussa sissoko not much to be said, good utility midfielder for just 2.5m
If we can get in m'Vila, remy, tomkins, Isimat mirin, bong we would have every chance of turning our season around, but i just don't see us spending that much or bringing in that many players.

"The good news is we are taking Cabaye on the bus, which is like signing a new player, " said Pardew

Here we go again with this "like a new signing" crap. Wont be long before Steven Taylor is the CB we sign this January...

Believable9 Unbelievable2

That statement is an insult to fans' intelligence.
We are starting to see the same old tripe being spouted as the transfer window trundles aimlessly on.... as usual.
It's absolutely pathetic!!

why should santon go if we have another decent full back then if one is injured we can play the other and we need at least one more good full back for european games Santon could also play left midfield...people moan when we have no cover then moan when we try to get cover

I think we should off Simpson and £500k for Tomkins from West Ham, I know Tomkins is not great but he is better than Williamson, and we have a better right back than Simpson now, Debuchy. Also we want a left back from France believe it or not, Bong. Also think we need Remy for £10m and we are good and will be 4 or 5 places higher than now especially with Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Jonas, Gosling and S.Taylor coming back soon.
Then in the summer buy Alessandrini, and Austin in the summer. Also bring in Gourffan, Sissoko and Douglas on frees

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I rate Tomkins, still only 23, looked solid in the Olympics and has always played well for West Ham. As you say, almost anything is an upgrade on Williamson. But I actually think he's a very decent young CB with PL experience. Which is what we need.

Agree2 Disagree0

Tomkins not that bad, honest and tough and a threat in their box ! More than we at mo !

Newcastle interested in Alvaro Negredo, according to Spanish Press.

Highly doubtful, but would be nice to have him at NUFC...SpanishMag

Newcastle will not sign a striker, pardew is going to play 1 up top being cisse and Mike no Cashley has decided we have sufficient cover with ranger campbell and ameobi. We will attempt a swap with west ham simmo for tomkins and also we are in talks with thauvin for an added winger. Miralem Sulejmani is also another winger possibility as he runs out of contract in the summer, could be available for a low price

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Ashley told you himself, did he? He should have told Llambias not to waste his expenses budget chasing Remy, Aubameyang, etc. Even the Fat Man can't really believe Ranger is a prem player, surely?

this all seems a load of crap! what toon fan actually believes we will actually sign any quality strikers thatll actually be committed to nufc they are only committed to top four teams we buy then sell every year so why would players want to go to a selling club we are a minno version of arsenal any proper quality goes to better teams "pardew complete waste of space" "ashley leave our club either to the fans to run it like a football team not a casino or retail shop" both useless!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

'Selling club'? Man you had to sell Ronaldo; Arsenal have had to sell just about every class player for the last 3 years; Spurs had to sell Modric and Van der Vaart. Liverpool had to sell Torres. It's called reality. We don't like it, and that's why we have to have a long-term plan for finding up-and-coming young 'uns at a sensible price. Some will come good, some won't.

Firstly pardew has done brilliantly for us but I gotta be honest I think he's losing it! He only started playing 433 to accommodate ba, benny and cisse. So ba has gone, bennyis injured and we still play 433 with our number 9 on the right! Stop blaming injuries and concentrate on selecting the right formation and tactics for the players who are available at the time. Im starting to wonder what they actually practice in training! My mates a west ham fan and he says this is exactly what pardew did down there, had a cracking season then got them relegated the next season thru poor tactics and team selections. What does everyone else reckon?

Apparently we've made a bid for a Cameroonian left back called Bong, WHY? we've got santon, ferguson, tavernier and dummett. Maybe just extra support but maybe santon might be going? dunno, but he'll be going to ACON and we need a centre back! It just seems agonising that we're concentrating on other positions than centre half! {Ed001's Note - Santon wants to play on the right.}

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Hopefully a bong will cheer you all up! Lol

Cameroon haven't qualified for ACON this year.

Agree0 Disagree1

Why would he want to challenge Debuchy for right back? I think he's always looked better on the left tbh and he's a real threat cutting onto his right foot going forward

Agree0 Disagree0

He was originally a RW wasn't he Ed? {Ed001's Note - first time I saw him he was playing on the right wing, not sure if that was just out of desperation or if it was his original position though.}

does anything else think that amalfitano was one of our most pointless signings? I mean i've seen him in the first team and he was pants. I've seen videos of him and just doesn't seem to have any potential, he's already 22. Get him out on loan or just sell him, coz he seems like a waste of space with ranger, xisco and jonas

been watching highlights and videos of the 2 strikers we interested in and comparing their stats just for general info and ive got to say as a fan id go for aubnamyang over remy!

hes younger sharper quicker and some of the goals hes scored a a real treat.

this lad looks built for the premiership and at a cheaper price than remy he would fit our bill perfectly.

i do like the look of remy but i think we will end up playing games with him til the window shuts as marseille don't like they wanna play ball at all.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

The thing is though this lad plays through the middle. If we got remy I would play Ben afra cisse remy in a 4, 3, 3 with Anita toite cabaye behind. That would be a good team.

At a recent Academy game, my nephew, who is a current academy coach told me that NUFC have a superstar at their current under 14's who WILL make the first team squad by the end of next season and will probably earn the club millions when he is sold, sounds about right under the current regime..! Anyone know who this might be, so we can look out for him? Holding midfield player by all accounts?
So who knows the inside info?

For all the fans saying get rid of Ashley and Pardew are you for real?
1. Ashley owns the club how do you get rid of him, unless you have a spare £250m around he is staying until he decides to sell it.
2. By getting rid of Pardew what will that achieve? Who will come and do any better? This is the biggest job he will ever get is he going to resign over transfer funds? Would you? The bottom line is they are there, if fans do not like them do not go. Otherwise support the team. I personally would rather Ashley than Shepherd who ran the club, way beyond it's means....Micheal Owen, Boumsong..etc etc

i think we need to get a striker in soon, either make a bid for remy, or switch to another target before time runs out.

I can not believe we are 10 days in and no solid offer for a CB has been made. The one position we needed a world-class player in before the window started!

I was never expecting a Ba replacement until the end of the window, if at all. Just get us a new CB for crying out loud! Someone solid, with strength and pace who can play the ball and understands positions. Anyone but Williamson!

Agree, it borders on negligence now.

the problem we have most of our fans want us to spend fortunes on players and waste money all over again and do nothing and they would be happy....i, m quite happy the finacial stability the club has now and yes we should of bought 3 + more players in summer and padew admitted it was a mistake....i think we have been very unlucky with injuries this season and yes we have lost ba but that does not mean go and spend fortunes paying over the odd, s in wages and signing 33 years just for squad numbers.....we have to trust pardew and see where we are at end of season....k

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Oh so the fans are the problem?

Agree2 Disagree0

Completely agree with you. I think they tried to get more players in the summer, but were unwilling to be held to ransom. We have a valuation for every player we go in for, and if the fee exceeds this by quite a way we walk away. Whilst this is frustrating at times, it sends a clear message that NUFC are no longer a soft touch in terms of transfer fees.

Pressing the panic button now with Pardew is not the answer as some fans seem to think it is. Manager of the season last year, does not become a bad manager over night.

Injuries have destroyed us this year. We top the rankings for numbers of players that have been out. Any club would suffer a dip in form due to this number of first choice players out. If we had a full strength team out every week, and were still getting beat every week, then we would have to seriously look at the coaching. Lets not get carried away.

Col

Agree2 Disagree3

I wouldn't say we are getting carried away and nobody's saying go and spend £30 million on a striker and pay him £250,000 a week but we are stretched because of injury and we have no decent back up just kids we need a decent size squad with abit of experience with players who can challenge the first for first team positions instead of everybody thinking there safe.

A decent striker, a creative midfielder and a first team centre half and I'd be happy!

Mitch

Agree3 Disagree0

Im a fan and I would be happy if we spent some money (not a fortune) on players we need ie CB and Striker maybe attacking left midfield. is that too much to ask Des Toon

Agree3 Disagree0

Who said spending money on players would be a waste of money, the fans want Lescott and a Striker... do you think that is wasting money?

Btw. You contradicted yourself by saying you do not think the club should spend money, you then go on to say that Pardew admitted he made a mistake and should have signed 3 players in the summer, so can you make up your mind please.

Which is it, should the club buy the necessary players they need (which all the fans on here are asking for, nothing else) or should we patch up the squad and make do with what we have and buy cheap players that may or may not work out, which one is it?

I do not understand you at all.

I think you like coming on here and berating other Newcastle fans like you are some kind of Superior Newcastle fan because you back the board. They (the board) have already admitted they made mistakes not signing the players needed, the fans are calling for the players we need and there are no signs of the club buying the additions we need, so please tell me why you think you are better than other fans, why are you on here telling good honest fans to ''get a grip'' and being argumentative?

I stand with my fellow Newcastle fans on here that want what is best for our club, we are not asking for 20 million pound signings, just the necessary cover we need as we are short in certain areas.

You need to get your priorities straight, the rest of us are Newcastle fans, you are a Ashley fan. We will be here long after Ashley has gone. If all the supporters were like you then Dennis Wise would still be at the club. Think about that one.

Agree0 Disagree1

''Pressing the panic button now with Pardew is not the answer as some fans seem to think it is. Manager of the season last year, does not become a bad manager over night.''

Over night? Try over half a season.

Agree1 Disagree1

Ok. To the people disagreeing with my stand point.

Who would you replace pardew with at this point in time? Half way through the Jan transfer window with the team in the position it is in. What player would come to the club then? How much would you be prepared to give Pardew as a pay off? Do you not think last season has bought him some time to turn things around? Do you think the money that we would have to use to pay Pardew off with would be better spent on a new player to help us out?
Getting rid of Pardew is not the answer. Calling for his head is not the answer. Getting behind him, and the team is the answer. Negativity breeds negativity, so lets not be negative.

Col

Agree1 Disagree1

2 strikers gone in the summer with 0 coming in, 1 striker gone in jan so far 0 in, we have 2 decent centre halfs and 1 is a sick note, the others not good enough, man you who top the league have 5 quality centre halfs, i don't expect nufc to have this many but 3 would be nice.

danny graham just gone up another couple of million.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I think I would prefer Danny Graham to Remy anyway, he is a proven goal scorer and has the snipers touch infront of goal.

It would be foolish to miss out on him, any time we have played Swansea and he has came off the bench my nerves get shattered.

Give Graham games and he will get goals, simples.

There will be a minimum of 3, possibly up to 5 players incoming this Jan. There are 2 players in advanced talks and should be done within 4 days (late weekend early next week).
