metalist kharkiv drew friendly with non league whitly bay there on there winter break doing pre season or 2nd string should beat um thursday my team would be. elliot. tarvenir. mbiwa. williamson. haidara. anita. tiote. bigirama. marveaux. obertan. ameobi.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

We may as well chuck the full team at them, maybe with all the new lads playing. Don't forget that we don't play at the weekend, and the next game we will play after Thursday will be against Metalist again the following Thursday.

We shouldn't put a weak team out, known our luck they will hammer us. Go for strength in numbers, and go to hammer the le'b*rst*rds.

This could be the chance for Cisse to find his feet. and the net. Or will that be too much to hope for?

Agree8 Disagree1

We have got to put a strong team out try and kill the tie off in the first leg then we can play some younger players in the second leg!

Agree5 Disagree1

It won't be as easy as you think.

Agree5 Disagree0

Who in that team will get our goals, its so defence orientated

Agree2 Disagree0

In our last three games we have six goals from 5 different players. That's were you get goals from

we played well against Spurs they have only lost 2 games at home this season and we played well enough to earn a draw, the only changes we need are Marveaux for jonas and tiote for perch. I would also have Campbell on the bench shola offers nothing in fact he wasted time. Hope Goufran is ok

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Ben Arfa for Jonas, Tiote for Perch, MbBiwa for either Colo or Taylor and we should be ready to match any team.
Agree about Shola - he is totally inept and shouldn't be anywhere near the squad. I know we bought some good players in the window but not buying another striker was a big mistake.
Regrettably we have nothing coming up from the reserves in the way of strikers and that has to be addressed by the club. Unfortunately, in my opinion, Campbell needs time before he can be considered.

Agree4 Disagree0

Campbell could come on for 10-15 minuets like shola does even though young and inexperieced would do as good if not better than shola and I never want to see ranger in the shirt again

Agree2 Disagree0

Leave Shola alone man. We know he's not the best, jeezzz we have put up with the lad for over ten years now. Let him finish his career off at us.

Don't forget that Shola does come up with the goods when we most need him, the very vital times. How many times has he rescued us from the Mackhams, or brought us back level against teams, or the fact that he is our 2nd top goal scorer in Europe only behind Shearer.

I know he is not world class (far from it) but his heart is in the right place, he does try and you can see that. We only have to put up with him for another 2 years now

Agree4 Disagree3

For someone playing for his boy hood team I rekon he does not try! he wonders aroudn the pitch, looses a few headers, now even mis times a few tackles he should be told to retire at the end of the season

Agree2 Disagree1

Quite frankly Shola is an absolute embarrassment and how the Toon management and staff can't see that is beyond me.
I'd sooner see Steven Taylor at centre forward, at least the opposing defence would know he was there and they were in a game.
I look forward to the day when I don't have to see him lazily ambling around the field as if he had all the time in the world.

surely this is jonas's last season

Believable8 Unbelievable3

At least he works hard which is more than can be said about Shola.

Right, 12 games left of the season, we've got 3 matches against top teams, home to liverpool which we need a win, home to arsenal which we can try and win at least get a draw. Away to man city try and get a draw but most likely loose. We need to try and get 7 wins, at least 2 draws. Maximum of 3 loses. So win our home games, win half of our away games, draw the rest, maybe lose 1 or 2, that will easily get us top 10 possibly 7th.

The key thing we're missing is that star player, someone who can give the team a lift and he will develop into a player that you just can't knock off the ball. Arsenal have Cazorla, walcott, podolski. Villa have benteke, chelsea have lampard, hazard, mata, everton have fellaini, liverpool have gerrard, suarez, city have aguero tevez toure man united have rooney rvp spurs have bale.
We do have ben arfa but we need a player like benteke, a target man that can give us the 442 option. To play a 442, you need proper decent wingers and someone who can bring the ball down and win most ariel battles. We've got ben arfa, but we need someone with pace, jeremain lens? AVB said he'll listen to offers for lennon, perhaps if qpr go down we could get hoilett. We need more flair players defo and actual decent ones not just marveaux.
Summer spending ideas:
Hoilett 6m
Benteke 10m
Remy 8m
Luuk De Jong (Hasn't settled) 10m
Siem de jong 9m
Okore 4m

Believable4 Unbelievable3

We have a star player - Ben Arfa.

Agree4 Disagree2

Yes that's what I said.

Agree4 Disagree2

''The key thing we're missing is that star player''

We have a star player - Ben Arfa.

Agree0 Disagree1

Sissoko? cabeye?

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would you pay 8mil for remy when we would get him on a free when qpr get relegated. plus I wudnt want him now that he turn us dwn for more money

Agree3 Disagree2

Yes that's what I said, but we can't just rely on HBA we should try and take lennon I think.

Agree3 Disagree1

By missing I'm assuming he means HBA is injured. I think Cabaye is our key player, his distribution is top class as is his ball retention. Him and Sissoko are absolutely fantastic.

Agree1 Disagree0

£6m for Hoilett what has he done at QPR to justify that price tag?

Cisse was very iscolated in the spurs game. I think maybe ameobi should join him up front. To play a 442, you need a good power and pace. Jonas cannot play left midfield, he's not quick enough. I'd like to see sissoko or santon there actually. Apparently for toulouse he played a couple of times right midfield. Maybe not for southampton but we could go:
Krul
Debuchy M'biwa/Saylor Coloccini Haidara/Santon
Ben Arfa Cabaye Tiote/Sissoko Santon/Gouffran
Cisse Ameobi/Gouffran

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Cisse was isolated because Tottenham did a very good job of stopping Cabaye and Sissoko playing him in.

Spurs were very smart and picked out the two danger men and tried to stop them passing.

Our formation is working wonderful and we should have got a draw, it was a bad bit of goalkeeping that let us down, plus losing Gouffran.

The last time we went there and used a 4-4-2 we got beat 5-0.

The formation is perfect, we just need to keep players fit and start playing it better.

Bringing on Shola and Marveaux was nonsense, they are not the type of players that can play in a 4-2-3-1

Perch for Tiote when we were a goal down was not exactly a great move either, Tiote was giving away free kicks (eating up the clock) and Shola ended up arguing with the ref for a whole minute of the extra time, time we desperately needed to use to attack. (Shola should have scored in the 94th minute, but what do you expect from Shola)

Obertan for Gouffran would have made sense.

Gouffran is already looking like a leader for us, his determination and body language on the pitch seems to lift the team, he is a total pro and has a winning mentality, his head did not drop after Spurs went a goal up, he looked driven and mature and the players around his responsed. (Jonas starts to look like he wants to go home after the team go a goal down, that kind of negativity eats into the other players)

Agree0 Disagree3

Play 4-4-2 and shove Sissoko out onto the Left Wing?

Are you mad?

Agree1 Disagree3

You got "Baled" mate, live with it.

Agree1 Disagree3

Shola isn't the type of player who can play in any formation.

Agree2 Disagree0

''You got "Baled" mate, live with it. ''

Actually we got Krul'd.

A keeper doing his job correctly would have stopped both of those goals.

Go look at the goals again.

Agree5 Disagree2

What? Krul could have done better with the second goal, for sure, but what about Colo for standing off the ball and letting Bale go? He hesitated and if you hesitate in front of Gareth Bale he will punish you. For the free kick that Colo poorly gave away, Perch should have jumped, but aside from that it was a top class free kick, low with dip. Not even Casillas is getting to that, it's the walls job to protect from those.

Agree1 Disagree1

Bale could of had five if it wasn't for Krul.
