Ed: you haven't answered my query re people using multiple identities. Could Zeus - to give just one example - register umpteen pseudonyms? Vic

Vic

{Ed002's Note - I didn't see the question Vic but people can register multiple times. I would rather they didn't and relationships were build based on folks coming clean with one persona. It has worked very well on the Manchester United and Liverpool pages. We just need to all keep working toward making it happen.}

1.) Better make some constructive points about Newcastle sick like most of reading negatives on here

2.) How can anybody click on 'unbelievable' re a QUESTION? Seven separate persons, or just the one? Vic

Vida: don't think it was me that called you a fool. I posted that under Carver all we could expect was an inevitable downward spiral, and so it has proved. At the risk of boring everybody, I'll say it again. Once a team goes out of both cups and has nothing to play for, performances slump. It's not rocket science. It was true under Pardew (he should have blooded the kids) and it's true again under Carver (they should have hired a new coach). Why Ashley and Charnley can't see that is anybody's guess. I hope it's because they have a top man lined up for the summer, but don't count on it.

The glass is half full again! Couple of thoughts: spending a lot of money hasn't done Spurs, or Liverpool, or Man U a lot of good. And last season there were a lot of people on here who thought Sammy was a dead loss.

Vic

1.) Southampton and west ham also spent lots of money Vic. We had 30% possesion against a poor spurs team.

Positives are that the defence looks solid. Cabella finally produced something, good goals from sammy and perez.

We lack energy and fight, we need 11 players with sissokos attitude, that was a captains performance today.

we need to man mark at set pieces and got lucky today.

I wish we could see a 4 4 2

keep the back 4 as is, midfield of

cabella sissoko collback sammy

perez cisse

2.) Desree despite the resuly you are absolutely right

3.) Typical Pardew. His latest rant is that he knows what he is doing. I am not sure what game he watched, but planning on 30% possession, relying on the counter attack with no striker and spurs players having a shocker is not the strategy for success. He sounds like the bloke who wins once in a while at the bookies and brags to everyone in the pub.

4.) Is Riviere injured lads or is he in the knackers yard too? I can't understand why you would play perez up font on his own?

But Pardew knows what he is doing!

{Ed002's Note - Injured.}

5.) Actually Des Perez looked OK and it has to be something to build on Was I the only one who said he fancied a result at Spurs.

Another late night for you did you fall alsleep at half time as it was the 2nd win?

Bony was the striker we should have had but that is history now. so I suppose Mr knowall will rotate his now firing strikers and we will not get one in January.

If they at least play like they did in the 2nd half we have some sort of a chance but the next 2 games will show whether it is embarrassing or not.

6.) I missed our first goal Vida. Perez did look ok but upfront on his own is a big ask. that's how you ruin good players.

bony would have been bought and sold by now mate had we gone in for him in 2012. I expect no one in january but tiote will be gonski

7.) 27 Oct 2014 11:45:22
Desree: I don't disagree, but Southampton had no choice but to spend big after losing so many of their best players, and we spent slightly more than West Ham. My point was badly made. I've been banging on for ages about the need to give the kids a decent run, especially when there was nothing to play for since January. Obertan's had umpteen chances and one and a half goodish games, but Sammy, Perez, Haidara etc are the future and cost next to nowt. And another thing - a few posters have been slating Sissoko, but he's our next captain IMHO. And we might have seen the last of Tiote?

8.) Think your right Vic. Even a few wins before January will see Ashley just plough the same tough and sell to buy quantity rather than quality.

Ashley has his advisers telling which plug to pull the only thing he is clever at is listening to them because none of them have any football idea only about money and how to make it work.

I expect very little over the next 4/5 games but yep the Puppet has to continue with thes youngsters adding Aarons and Armstrong to the mix, he must take heart after Sundays result.

9.) We all seem to feel the same about the young lads. Steve Taylor also deserves a run in the team.

If tiote is going I'd like to see Bigi given a shot alongside Sissoko. Collback hasn't done enough to keep his shirt. He should have 3 goals this season.

I think Goufran needs a rest. I would like to see him tried as a forward playing off cisse. He would really hussle the defence and does have pace.

And here's another thing to think about. Why would Ashley sell NUFC to buy Rangers? Newcastle in the Prem get far more TV coverage worldwide than Gers will ever get, even if they do get back into the Champs League. For Rangers to get to the later, more lucrative stages would require massive investment in top players, and that'll never happen. NU v Man Utd, or Rangers v Ross County - which game do you think would draw most viewers in Japan or China, the most publicity for Sports Direct? Why sell NUFC at all, when he can rake in the TV money? Because those nasty Geordies don't like him?

Vic

1.) All they'd have to do is get to the group stages and then they could be put up against giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus. They have a huge fan base and a nice big stadium to plaster sports direct advertisement with. They would be up there with Celtic for the media money as soon as they get back into the SPL and would require significantly less money to spend to challenge for the title and cups than it would for us.

2.) SC7 dead right sounds like a plan

3.) SC7 and ART: wishful thinking, chaps? Rangers have a very poor record in Europe generally and Champs League in particular - much worse than Celtic. My point stands: to get to the later stages would be a fantastic achievement requiring a massive investment in top class players. The income for Rangers would be piddling in comparison to the money to be made from NU in the Prem. Do you know how much (little) SPL clubs get from TV? £80m over 5 years shared between 10 clubs, compared to £60m pa for each club in England. Rangers would have to WIN the CL to make as much! (Barcelona got £50m for their win). I know Ashley likes a gamble, but! He could do much better by raking in the TV cash here and investing enough over time to get NUFC back into the top four, or not, more likely.

4.) Now if Rangers could join the EPL, THAT would be a plan.

5.) We will have to wait and see then Vic Rangers are trying to reinvent themselves & perhaps Ashley. Wants to be party of that

I seem to remember was it not you who stated we would get 25m plus for Cabaye when eventually only one club would pay 20m perhaps your lateral thinking may require a different slant.

6.) Art: Not quite right, Art. Vida (I think) started the debate by saying Cabaye would be sold for £15m, I challenged him by saying that Cabaye SHOULD fetch £25m, and that I certainly wouldn't sell him for less - an opinion that Ashley is reported to have agreed with, and the best reports from France say that PSG paid £20m up front, with £3. 6 m to follow in add-ons. A damned sight closer to my estimate of his value than Vida's - or yours? And now he's scoring for PSG in the Champs League. Are you now saying I got it wrong? But to go back to the Rangers business, the rumours of Ashley's interest are getting old now and my own opinion is that he's done the sums and turned them down. As you rightly say, we'll have to wait and see.

7.) It's just called 'thinking', Art. I recommend it. So are you saying that Ashley is about to sell NU and buy Rangers?

8.) Rubbish Vic I never sad that & the bet you had you lost

9.) Art: Wrong again. Bet not lost. Check your facts before posting.

10.) Vic, I think champions league gets WAY more money and bonuses just for qualification anyway even if it doesn't attract many viewers on TV.

11.) Vic of course I am right just seems a problem 4 U to admit any one has any idea or knows a bit more than you
Cabaye was sold a lot less than you said and NO UK club bid for him more than 12M

12.) Art: this could go on ad nauseam, so this will be my last post on the subject regardless of anything else you may post. To recap: I did NOT say that Cabaye would be sold for £25m. I DID say that Ashley would not sell him for £15m. I was right. I DID speculate that Ashley should have a figure around £25 m in mind. I was right on that too. These are simple facts which you can check. So check 'em, and when you've done that chuck my actual words back at me if you can. If you can't, we'll all know what you are.

13.) And Art, I won't insult you by speculating on your level of honesty or intelligence, but you must have access to t'interweb and even a non-savvy old codger like me can fiddle around searching out information. The figures I quoted in my second post above were taken from the appropriate sites. That's not being clever, just what normal people of normal intelligence do.

14.) And Victor there lies the problem Media who are assuming and guessing
Do you suggest Ashley or PSG would allow the fee to be accurately published

Suggest whenever you get the chance ( virtually impossible) check the accounts
thats the official hidden language

21 Jan 2014 10:28:50
Vida: what was that bet again? You say Cabs will move in this window, for something a tad over £15m? If he doesn't, or if the deal is nearer £25m, I win? If I win you buy me a bottle of Laphroaig (£33. 50 in Tesco) You win, I buy you a Gregg's pastie? I'll have to weigh up the risk carefully.
Seriously though, one question for you all - if Cabs goes, who will be our free kick specialist?

Vic

1.) If Cabaye leaves this month which I doubt we should just bring Ben Arfa in him and Anita can take the set pieces.
Line up like this:
--------------Krul------------
Debuchy-Wil-Mapou-Haidara
----------Tiote-Anita----------
--Gouffran-Ben Arfa-Remy--
------------De Jong-----------

2.) Hi Vic if Cabaye goals now he will bring an inflated price there is no doubt about that.
If he stays let's see, I don't know how you have done your bets before but if you are right like me you'll get possibly get a sausage roll from Greggs
The next 10 days should be interesting or will it just be another anti-climax.

Where are you Zeus? 8th Oct you said that if the lads showed a bit of form you'd be straight on to admit you were wrong. Does an away win and a good draw with ten men against the league leaders not count?

Vic

1.) Vic this obsession with Zues is starting to look embarrassing, you've spent more time talking about him than you have newcastle!

2.) Echo 2nd post. This is about football good or bad comments that what a blog is
Zeus I am sure can take care of Zeus
Better we all concentrate on Newcastle United & as many positives we can
BUT it is up to the team to give us who support them something to be proud of.

3.) You don't like it, that's tough. I'll carry on having digs at him - strictly on football matters, though. I won't be suggesting that he should be thrown off a bridge, for example. If you find that a problem, then don't read my posts. Simples.

4.) Happychipbeanie: can't find anything you've ever posted re NUFC at all. Got nothing to say about football?

5.) That's because untill now I wasn't forced to give a stupid made up name genius!

6.) Happy etc: nobody forced you to put a stupid made up name on your football posts. You could have put your real name as per your birth certificate, or (rest of post deleted as too funny).

JT : either this is just Mr Infallible mis-reading something, or he's stirring the poo to wind you up. McClaren is reported today to have said he expects more signings, one or two this week, possibly. You can safely ignore 9/10ths of what old misery guts posts.

No, Vida, my glass is totally empty. With carver in charge a relegation fight is certain. We don't have the points to escape like last year and the players have no motivation to battle. I don't blame Carver for this; the policy of not going for the cups does it. The only hope is a new boss who can shake things up - who? I've no idea.

Vida: as you say, your journo friend is as much in the dark as the rest of us - if he really knew anything his paper would splash the exclusive. Charnley, Carr and Ashley don't tell anybody what they're thinking, but if Carver's their choice it would be done and dusted by now. No brainer really.

And didn't we score about 100 goals that season? Eastham, White, Allchurch. We need entertainers like them now - I rest my case.

Hail, Vida and des! Sites been dead for ages as we go through the pain of another wasted season. Just to stick my two pennorth in - most of us agree that centre half is priority, but IMHO centre forward is just as important. Not one of our "strikers" is anywhere near the standard of Shearer, Ferdinand, Cole, Beardsley, Keegan, Quinn, Davies or Macdonald.

(Len White was best of the lot. ) It hurts me to think that we were willing to pay a world record fee for AS but now we have to rely on second-raters. Back in the good old days the Board knew that they were in the entertainment business.

If Vida has a source of better info re transfer fees he could clear this argument up by sharing it with us. If he doesn't, we can draw our own conclusions.

Hurts me to say it, but I agree with Vida. (And about the shirts). Ashley has no ambition above mid-table, but I'm reasonably confident for the coming season. Last two seasons we were doing ok up to Jan, but then deliberately and mistakenly went out of both cups. With nothing to play for, no motivation and then Carver in charge the wheels came off well and truly. Let's hope the momentum can be maintained for the full 38 games.
On another topic, I wouldn't bother with Austin. If an additional striker is required I' d push Sissokho up front where his strength height and pace could do some good, and free up a place in midfield.
And as Ashley doesn't get a halfpenny out of me, I'm £50 a match better off and much happier on the outside, Art, than you could ever be paying good dosh to watch dross on the inside.

Art: think you're being a bit unfair to Vida suggesting he's idiotic is a bit strong. He always used to be the extreme pessimist, but now with three good signings he's changed his tune only very slightly, suggesting tenth place, etc. He'll be back to his old self soon, mark my words.
