Don't expect us to sign anyone today but a few may go. Wouldn't be too fussed if Santon and Tiote went as seem to have better players in squad so won't miss them.

Looks like the MK Dons guy is going to go to Spurs as think he wants to stay in London area.

Spurs have some decent players that we should be looking at. Dembele would be a great signing as has premiership experience and is a good passer of the ball which is something we lack. Capoue could be a gamble but a loan for him could be an idea.

Is obvious to everyone that we need a CB. Should go for Micah Richards as is English with premiership experience. Reports today that Gary Cahill is now well down the pecking order at Chelsea, he would be great for us but if he is available I would imagine that Man U would be in for him looking at the state of their defence.

Hopefully Villa go down then Benteke may be available in the summer.

So if Janmaat gets injured who plays right back, Anita? If Haidara gets injured and Dummet is playing centre bnack who plays left back?
Cahill is on 100k + per week, no chance and why would Benteke join us when he will offers to play for CL teams or even teams willing to pay him the going rate for a top striker.
My only hope is that we are actually signing someone to replace Santon.

2.) 02 Feb 2015 12:13:55
Micah Richards is a no go, he is on loan at fiorentina. Plus I think he has played for man city in the community shield so he can't play for 3 clubs in 1 season. Cahill is no chance.
I can't understand the clubs reluctance to sign a CB, with santon set to go it would make a lot of sense for us to sign a right footed CB. Who could step in at RB should janmaat/anita be injured. Coloccini will probably go home in the summer so would be a very good opportunity to sign a good centre back, the last one we were linked with was Douglas but Kinnear ****ed that up. Too much competition for Van dijk so inflated price, Fabien Schar would have been good but all too late. We will probably make another half hearted attempt to sign tomkins just so it looks like we tried

3.) 02 Feb 2015 13:44:02
we are getting close to safety from relegation so is it not time to give Good Street or Sakta a couple of games at CB other teams have dome it and prospered, after all they can't be any worse than willo and collo at the moment

4.) 02 Feb 2015 15:34:30
That is dangerous talk Des. We are more than capable of blowing up an not getting another 10 points, Carver may have got his first win but his record as caretaker is appalling.

5.) 02 Feb 2015 19:40:45
get the kids in, can't help but think Carver will get the job in the summer. Any one with half a brain will stay well clear. Why does this club continually weaken itself in transfer windows just to save a few bob?

Having spent nothing in January it's reported that Rafa will have plenty to spend if we get promoted.

If so, who do you want to see us go for?

Would love to see us be I in for Pastore (psg) and Herrera (Porto) .

Still think McCarthy and Townsend would be good signings as are both a lot better than what we have now.

Any other surgestions?

DR. Toonman

1.) 07 Feb 2017 23:13:11
There are better wingers and mid field players
and I hope we aim higher, neither.

2.) 07 Feb 2017 23:14:00
Niether of these woukd get into a top 6 team.

3.) 08 Feb 2017 10:58:21
I think Rafa (if given assurances and control again) will aim for those sort of calibre players as you say of Pastore/ Herrera, real top young players in Europe. I definitely think £60+ million will need to spent on this team to make sure it is at least able to consolidate in the premier league. I think we can do better than the likes of Townsend and McCarthy.

A left back, holding midfielder, cover for Shelvey, number 10, left winger and a striker will all be needed in the summer IF we get promotion.

4.) 08 Feb 2017 11:24:25
Townsend is bad news, keep clear. Mousa sissoko shouls be available for a knockdown price too.

I would go for Zaha. Much better than Townsend.

Benteke is another I would go after Gayle as a no10 and benteke upfront would be magic. Like Bellamy and shearer.

If Palace go down I would be all over their squad. Not sure how even Pardew f@cked up that team?

5.) 08 Feb 2017 16:04:21
Agree Toony me being negative and all that
60m plus another 60m after some players are sold might just allow Rafa create a midtable team like Stoke Southamtom and WBA because to compete for a top 4 place from next season it will cost mega bucks and Ashley will just not go there.

6.) 08 Feb 2017 16:14:29
Des by the time the Summmer arrives and IF we are promoted what can we offer top players apart from Benitez to players that will be sought after by the top 10 PL and European and now Chinease club
It is going to take years for Newcastle to be regarded as a top 6 team in the PL.

Other clubs will pay 60/ 70m for a top player, Ashley will have a heart attack if he had to pay that.

Out of 180m from TV IF we get promoted perhaps an overall 80m may be spent and despite Rafa that will not be enough.

Anyway we will see and yes there are better players than Townsend and few other players mentioned.

I don't think I care anymore. We deserve to go down. If we do, we might get a change at the top but if we say up its same old same old.
Rumours are coming out to con everyone in to renewing season tickets.
The one player with any guts (Gutierrez) has now fallen out with Carver so won't play again.
And don't get me started on Carver, talk about not having a clue.
I can't see us getting another point this season. QPR and Leicester can't wait to play us. Question is can the other teams below us keep losing as well?

DR. Toonman

1.) 21 Apr 2015 13:44:56
We only deserve to go down if we have one of the three lowest points totals. Yes it is possible but to say you do not care anymore is sad to hear but to think we will get a change of owner if we go down is ridiculous, we will just get even less spending and an even worse team and unlike last time we do not have the players young or old to get us back up.
One more win or 3 draws should make it certain especially if it is against Leicester and QPR.
I am no fan of Carver as a coach and it was obvious what would happen when he took over after what he presided over last season while Pards was banned so why is everyone surprised? That said can he be to blame for the performance of Krul on Sunday, or the blatant penalties against Man Utd, Sunderland and Liverpool that were not given? No he can't. He can be blamed for taking of Abeid and leaving Taylor on and for even keeping Taylor in the side after his performance against Liverpool amongst many other things.

2.) 21 Apr 2015 22:03:30
Spire: who do you think is surprised? Vida and me have been saying for ages that under Carver terminal decline is inevitable. I'll say it again, until it sinks in: if a club has a policy of losing in the cups and avoiding qualifying for Europe, then players will have no motivation from January onwards. The only hope is to sack Carver and bring in Dick Advocaat - oh no, too late!

3.) 22 Apr 2015 11:37:25
Carver will not be sacked because he has a contract till 2020, just like Stone which is probably a sticking point in appointing new manager.

4.) 23 Apr 2015 20:58:50
Jeez spire, thought I was reading a comment written by myself there

07 Apr 2015 23:18:29
The teams below us that may go down still have some good players that could do well for us. That's if we can stay up, because at the moment we are the worst team in the league.

Vlarr, Benteke and Delph from Villa are all solid performers, Austin and Caulker at QPR, Krameric at Leicester just needs a bit more time, Trippier from Burnley and even Guzan from Villa would be good back up for Krul.

If Villa, Leicester and QPR go down we need to be in for these players as no other decent players will move to us. Can only get players from lower divisions.

Matty Phillips 2nd top assists in Europe, Danny Ings.

Nothing is going to change, has been like this for years now and no supporters have the balls to try and get things changed.

Only way things will improve is if a multi-millionaire appears out of thin air and offers Ashley double what the club is worth.

A new manager/coach can only do so much but if the owner has no pride and ambition we are stuck in this position.

Perhaps another 5 to 10 years of this before Ashley gets board and sells. We could well be a championship mid-table side by then so something needs to be done quickly before it's too late.

Have again been looking around for players to go for in the summer.
Saw some of the German highlights from the weekend and saw quite a few decent players.

Heung-Min Son looks like a great striker and is still quite young, just the sort of player that the club seems to be up for. But his reputation is growing so could well be out of our reach by the end of the season.

With Colo 33 and Wilko 31 getting on a bit new cb's are a must.
Brazilian defender Naldo has scored 6 goals this season and is only approx 25 years old.
But premier league experience seems to be a must, so don't know who we could go for. Williams, Reid but can't think of anyone else. And am not even sure they would consider a move to us a step up.
Am now even struggling to pull names of players out the air that would consider moving to us.
Anyone have any suggestions?

DR. Toonman

1.) Reid or Williams would be decent, Tomkins maybe however he's just signed a new contract and west 'am will want loads. Ryan Shawcross would be the best option IMO.

Toby Alderweireld in the summer however will face tough competition.

2.) What's Titus Bramble up to these days? our current lot might actually make him look good.

3.) Before i get attacked, there was a lot of sarcasm in my comment above.

4.) May as well bring sol Campbell out of retirement again

5.) On a more serious note, Micah Richards (but note sure he'll want to come, other than first team football at Centre Back) and Fabian Schar would be good free transfer options for the summer.

6.) Micah Richards would be perfect, at a good age and has the premier league experience. But am sure he wouldn't come to us. He will have the choice of at least 10 other teams to sign for. ManU, Spurs, Everton or even Arsenal will be looking at him.

Have never seen Mings play but from what I've read he sounds good and can play anywhere in back 4, but again better teams like arsenal watching him.

Just can't see us improving over the summer as know one better than what we already have would want to sign for us.

It will be the same as always, no incoming players and only out goings.

Will probs sell sissoko and won't bring anyone in.

Know one worth while getting as manager or coach at this time of year so looks like will be Carver till the summer.

Have we got enough to stay up?

Why not take Richards on loan for the season.

Will let us see his fitness/reliability more closely.

Benteke was worth £20 a season ago. No chance we would be in for him, especially as he is injured till Christmas.

Carver is to blame for the current run of loses.

Goufran and Ameobi are players that have to be in a team that's doing well and we are not. They gave us nothing in the derby.

Carvers team selection is wrong every game. Should have been 4-4-2 with cabella, jonas, Abied and sissoko in midfield with ayoze and riviere up front. At least with 2 forwards we might have some efforts on goal and can make space for each other.

The qpr game is a 6 pointer. Win and stay up or lose and go down.

Them formations only work well when your playing well, which we aren't.

It showed against hull that 4-4-2 is the only way we will score goals.

2 strikers in the box playing in a partnership creating space for each other.

Totally agree itoon.

This is why we should have got Grenier but he is now injured for at least 2 month.

So I guess it's now CB and CF only. Pardew obviously feels our midfield is good enough.

Totally agree with you.

A CB would be good.

We have already got 3 left backs, okay they aren't great but we're not going to go for another.

Don't think we will get a better striker than what we have already got so won't bring one in. Would like Aubameyang.

Grenier and a CB should be top of the list.
