I listened to sir alex ferguson's interview on ssn one tonight and find myself in total agreement with him,he rates our ex manager and now crystal palace manager alan pardew very highly and actually did say that pardew is a terrific manager, its an old saying in life that you don't realise what you've got until its gone and by god I will admit I wish pardew was still our manager,he's doing an unbelievable job with palace!

Fully agree, if Pardew was allowed to manage correctly, and given the cash McLaren has had, we'd be in much better shape.
I hated all those parades out demonstrations.
I bet he's laughing his head off at us.
I'd like him to understand it was a minority of supporters who thought this, majority were ok with him , regardless of what anyone who disagrees with me, it's fact.

Geez, you mean the head butter and Ref shover.

Listen to yourselves no wonder Newcastle fans are laughed at all over the country.

Pardew was in the wilderness when he met Ashley in the Casino, his persistent agree with Ashley has more do do with where Newcastle are today.

He is at Palace his club and whom he played for and good luck to him.

As for a good manger pull the other one, Palace have some good players but will win nothing with Pardew.

As for England manger well Wally had it as has our present manger who are both inadequate so perhaps Pardew as England coach might just fit as they are all hopeless.

Newcastle are in Dire Straits for one reason and the is Ashley.

Almost relegated last year so let's get a manager who got sacked from a championship team.team and maclaren at rock bottom.think ashley was thinking two minusus might equal a plus . Well he wrong. That's three minusus which means crisis. Should not of got macleren. and bought more players esp strikers. No excuses

The club spent less when Pards was in charge than now SM is, but in neither case was the manager allowed to buy the players he wanted. AP wanted Shelvey/Tomkins/ Jay Rod and got none all of whom have proven to become excellent players for the clubs who do have them. Everyone knows SM wanted Charlie Austin, did no get him because no one would pay £10m for Cisse (as if anyone would, idiotic in the extreme to expect it) to free up the cash/wages and as a result we are left with a demotivated Cisse, a heed the baal 21 year old unproven Serb and an injured Riviere, although I think he has more chance of scoring whilst injured than he does when he is available for selection.
All that said AP did not get the best out of talented players like HBA, Marveaux etc and we played a really poor brand of football under him. Is SM an improvement? Probably not but the best we could hope for the way the club is run and its reputation within football. The point to all this is that Pardew is an average manager at best, McLaren is an average manager at best, Charnley is a poor negotiator and Carr is living of the reputation of Cabaye because since then I can't think of another player he has brought in from extensive scouting that has worked. All this boils down to one thing, the man who owns the club. Having brought back Special K, he undermined him and then every manager since and one summer transfer window of average spending (yes £50m is average these days) does not fix 6 to 8 transfer windows of poor or no signings and selling or releasing our best players. Ashley is the root cause end of, and until our reputation in the game is restored the likes of Pardew or McLaren is best we can hope for in terms of a manager and as a result mediocrity or worse.
