Sunderland utility player Jack Colback is reported to be close to joining Newcastle on a free transfer at the end of the season

I have heard this rumour, its been flying around for a while. I personally don't get it, he is no better than what we have. seems abit of getting a player for the sake of getting a player. I hope Sunderland stay up and they give him a new deal as I don't think he is that good.

He's free, he's English and he's a Geordie. Can he do the job - yes. he play's his socks of for the smb's so he'll do so for us. He'll be a very good cover player and he can cover very many positions. I say get him in.

and yes, it may be signing someone for no huge improvement to the squad but we've been woefully thin at times this season, he'll be a great addition.

Colback could be a good signing, however I would love us to sign Jordan Mutch, Craig Noone or Robert Snodgrass instead.
